Interesting thing is that Dele at the time had 2nd place with Spurs and two times 3rd place. In that 16/17 season when he scored 18 PL goals they finished with 86 points. So they were more competitive than Mounts Chelsea last 4 seasons in PL.

It is team sport 11 vs 11. We are compering Mount vs younger Dele. Mount played zero contribution in us winning Super Cup and CWC, did not start any of 3 games. Number one reason we lost both Cup finals in 21/22 season.

So basically you are saying Mount is 10x better than Alli because he won his CL final and Dele lost his against Liverpool which started with penalty for Pool in first minute. Ok. Bertrand and Kalou also won their CL final with us. Should still be here.

It is interesting that you always conveniently say PL only to avoid talking about a mere CL win where he was one of the key players. 😉 Sure let's compare 3rd and 2nd place in the PL with winning CL. Mikel was a bad player, Bertrand was a bad player, Kalou was a decent player. Mount is a lot better than either. Bertrand was sold for peanuts while Mount will go to United make millions. Mikel went nowhere near a big club again. Whatever man, folks here just hate the guy.

Prime Alli shits on mount it isn’t even close. Mount did a good job overall and did contribute to us winning something but so did Oscar who was another middle of the road workhorse.

Think he was just a player with very different characteristics. He was classic CAM who does not have a place in football these days.

His prime was very short-lived too.

It feels crazy that we haven’t sealed a midfielder yet. It’s as though we’re asking for other big clubs to start up a bidding war for whatever targets we have. Why hasn’t Caicedo been wrapped up yet when the sales of Kai and Kova alone will have brought us £90m, never mind the extra money we’ll be getting for the 3 Saudi deals?

We don’t even have to dip into whatever transfer funds were available outside of players sales yet.

Surely in isolation the departures of Kovacic, Mount, Kante and Havertz as well as Jorgi before look reasonable .

but all at once in this short time frame is worrying for several reasons.

Disappointing and washed up or not, they were the ones our  younger players looked up to. They were mainstays of our teams last few seasons. Their departure will change squad dynamic fundamentally. Remains to be seen if for the better or worse .

they clearly want to leave bc the club is in disarray. We have not managed to bind them to this club on an emotional and contractual level. Maybe the Chelsea family spirit of old is gone under the new management. But we also failed to renew when times were better to at least extract more money.

Maybe they were not world beaters yet or anymore, they would still have been useful under Poch. the players we are replacing them with are young and unproven players. Higher ceiling or not, it is unlikely they will be better than their predecessors from the start. So yeah, top 4 will be an uphill struggle

Losing the amount of experience we are, and all at the same time, is definitely a concern. The likes of Azpi and Koulibaly need to be added to that list too and even a player like RLC is seen as a senior pro now within that group of players.

But on the flip side to this, this is a group of players that have been mostly together now for a while and failed to kick on, in many instances regressed. We haven't come close to challenging for the title for over half a decade and missed out on the top 4 a couple of times since we last won the league. The other times, we've only cemented our top 4 place late in the season. We've won a few cups, but the mentality and consistency within the group has been lacking for years to mount and sustain a title challenge over the course of a season, so perhaps we do need as big of a reboot as we're getting.

I have a feeling that Poch will be more excited about the potential squad he's inheriting, compared to if he had an older, more experienced core group of players. I think he'll feel he can mould and shape a lot of these players to suit him. He'll want a squad that's fit and capable of pressing from the front and playing intense, aggressive football and that is personally something I would love to see after the stale nature of our performances over the last 18 months.

If he can get us off to a fast start, I think a young group can ride momentum hard and start to get a sense of fearlessness. Probably similar to Arsenal this season gone, I think if we found ourselves in a position to be challenging for anything, we'll struggle then with the lack of experience but I definitely think the top 4 (or possibly top 5) is achievable this coming season.

Brighton really want Levi back, and apparently would be delighted if it was a loan again-I think we do an agreement with him going there with a loan and Caicedo comes here

No way should we let him go back to Brighton....it would send him the message that he isnt really wanted @ Chelsea

Post 30th June may be key for us on incomings with regards to FFP.
