So the big masterplan is to replace Jorginho with Andrey Santos…. great…. replacing a good technical midfielder with someone who at u20 level looks bang average technically and passes it backwards/sideways under no pressure. 

If we dont Enzo we are depending on Kovacic remaining fit all season then for a more technical ball playing midfielder.

Ornstein- Still no deal for Enzo, the contract is odne but we won't above the 120ME clause.

Not sure why we would go above the buyout, it's a clause for a reason

The only reason to go above the buyout is to try and negotiate instalments for the payments...rather than having to pay the 120 million + taxes in one hit.

Whilst I would hope that Jorginho moving on does signal the arrival of Enzo, I think in this situation we do have to look at both separately.

Jorginho is one foot out the door already and could very easily have already agreed a return to Italy for the summer and his head already out the club, particularly given where we are in the league.

At some point we can't keep spending this level of money and not make some good sales along the way and from a certain free transfer to now £12m in the bank represents good business. It would maybe be a different situation if we were in the middle of a title or top 4 push but realistically this season's league campaign is heading the way of a write off anyway.
