Who exactly is going to take Kepa, first of all, when we know there's no way our board is going to take a mega loss on that 72m we paid for him? Surely they won't just say 'fuck it' and just flog him for 30m.

I'm still convinced he'll remain our long term keeper. He'll be back in the net after this break.

it is not just his transfer fee

we still owe him £50m in wages after this season

I wonder if Lampard has talked to Kepa and find out what he's going on. Kepa might not be an exceptional keeper but it's quite alarming how badly he has regressed this season. Has no one at the club tried to fix these problems? Christophe Lollichon and Cech are there. Obviously there's only so much one can do with a limited squad but would hate it if Lampard and co. are just gonna resort to buying players to fix problems.

Personally I think that we don't need Ziyech if we are going to play him on AMF. RLC and Mount (Barkley also can jump in) are far better solutions

And of course when it comes to RW position BUY JADON FAKN SANCHO

And selling Kante and replacing him with some peasant from Watford? Are you serious?

Kepa is being exposed by Lampard's defense, he has regressed but I feel like it has to do also with lack of confidence in his back line, take that goal he conceded the other time when he passed to Zouma and it was intercepted, last season when we played fro  the back people knew their roles and positions well such that you could blindly pass and you would find someone. I know players hate the monotonous Italian way but it works if fully bought into.

Confidence in the backline?

Dan fucking Gosling took a piss on him at the Bridge that has nothing to do with backline and that goal versus Valencia, some big mistakes.

There is also true in your post, we are really poor in defense but for 72 bloody millions he should bring us some points

Perhaps but I think defensively we've improved as the season has gone on. By all means it's still not at a level it probably should be, but we are much less exposed as we were earlier in the season and in a lot of games we allow very few chances for the opposition. As the season has wore on though in contrast to this, Kepa's form and mistakes have been further exposed.

I think one of the biggest problems with him maybe concentration levels. Some of the top keepers at the top clubs don't need ridiculous stats for saves, etc they need to be fully concentrated and prepared in games where they are likely to be called upon no more than half a dozen times, mostly simple routine saves and sometimes pulling the odd wonder save out of the bag. Cech and Courtois had this mentality. We concede quite a lot of late goals in tight games and I just wonder if it's Kepa's mentality, rather than his ability, which is questioning whether he can be a keeper at a top club long term.

To be honest you could possibly argue the same about De Gea. He looked a world beater for a few seasons at United, but they got battered game after game and he was regularly busy. The last couple of seasons as they've become a more solid defensive unit and he's not being called into making world class saves all the time he's been making far more mistakes.

Lampard wants to bring a GK coach in, I dont know if Sarri had his own one in when he was here, IIRC he did so the coaching standard or the training obviously is inferior/different/whatever because Kepa is a very talented keeper and we all know this.

And selling Kante and replacing him with some peasant from Watford? Are you serious?

this is the consensus of targets

CF Dembele £60m

LB Chillwell £80m

Winger Sancho £130m

AMF/winger Ziyech £50m

DMF Soumare £50m

total spend minus either, NOT both, Alonso or Emerson sold

£340m <<<< cannot be done without selling Kante or dropping Sancho and rolling with Boga

sell Kante and it becomes a doable £240m or so as we already have £160m from player sales already completely minus Kovacic buy not counting the sales listed here so the total spend is £80m

but

A Better Alternative

CF Dembele £60m

LB Telles AND Gosens...... around £60m  AND this allows BOTH Alonso and Emerson to be sold generating £60m, so basically a wash

Winger Sancho £130m

Winger Boga £12.5m due to buyback

DMF/CB Declan Rice... this allows AC to be sold so a net cost of around £50m, I see Rice as a WC CB within a few years, our new Terry

DMF Soumare £50m

AMF Grealish £65m <<<< we NEED CREATIVITY, Mount doesn't cut it, and RLC is yet to be shown to be the player he was before that horrid injury, and RLC is not a number 10 type anyway

total spend minus the 3 sales listed

£367.5m <<< only £27.5m more but with better and more players

cost after a Kante sale, who can surely be sold now as we are bringing in both Soumare and Rice

£267.5m or so

total minus the already DONE or contracted sales revenue minus Kovacic buy that is £160m as of this minute

£107.5m, so within the £150m budget with plenty of wiggle room if some cost more than I listed

AND there will be other sales not listed as well

bottom line

Kante has to be sold no matter or we are never going to get the players all assume we will, starting with Sancho

Ajax goalie chooses Chelsea as he prepares for Premier League switch

https://www.chelsea-news.co/2020/02/ajax-goalie-chooses-chelsea-prepares-premier-league-switch/

Andre Onana is starting to bubble up more and more often as a name connected with Chelsea now that the January window has closed.

He’s the goalkeeper of a top European side, so he was never going to be moving in the winter window. But come the summer, it looks like he will be on the market, and the Daily Mail claim Chelsea is his preferred destination.

Goalies have a unique value in the transfer market as each team can only play one regularly, and most of the top teams already have a stopper they’re at least content with.

The Mail say that Barcelona and Tottenham have also expressed interest in the Ajax goalie – but they already have established players between the posts.

If Kepa leaves Chelsea will have a gap, and even if he stays, Onana would fancy his chances getting into the team ahead of him.

It could be a very interesting few months when it comes to keepers at Chelsea.

Kepa just hasn't got the minerals to be a top keeper and a goalkeeping coach can improve him but not to the level he needs to be. He's got no presence he doesn't command his area is always rooted to his goal line and the amount of times he's beaten by a long range shot or gets hands to the ball but can't prevent it going in is staggering.

Posters are saying left back, centre forward etc well a new keeper is also a priority in the Summer.

Is it that a deal has been agreed but he won't officially move until a later window when he's older?

Independent but disciplined': Former Fiabema's coach opens up on Chelsea newcomer

Chelsea have signed Bryan Fiabema from Tromso.
The Norwegian side's assistant manager Lars Petter Andressen wishes the 16-year-old all the best.
As per the specialist, the attacker has made a big step forward lately.
The player's desire to grow is insane.

Chelsea have signed young and talented forward Bryan Solhaug Fiabema from Tromso. The Norwegian's side assistant manager Lars Petter Andressen has shared thoughts on the youngster.

"Since joining the club, Bryan has shown a great desire to develop and has taken an especially big step lately," the coach told the club's official website.

"He is an independent boy who has lived in a single room and only thought about training. His ability to be independent and disciplined at the same time has led him to develop as a football player.

"We wish Bryan good luck in the future and will follow him closely in the years to come."

Fiabema has joined the Blues on a three-and-a-half-year deal. The transfer is believed to have cost Chelsea less than £900,000.

The 16-year-old has had a successful trial with the Blues and will join the club's youth side.

Fiabema grew up in Krokelvdalen and played for a local club until he was 12 years old. The attacker then moved to Tromso and was part of the Norwegian side's Academy ever since.

This season, Bryan has even made a senior appearance for the club.
