Leicester almost literally briefing what we’ve known now for a couple of weeks. That it’ll take us breaking Slabhead’s transfer record to sign him. Rodgers and the ITK Leicester journalists have all made it clear. It’s gone from “not for sale” to “well, if a monster offer comes in our hands are forced.”

I really hope we do it. He’s already a great player and will become one of the best in the world at Chelsea. Playing at least 1 season beside Thiago Silva will be hugely beneficial as well, especially since Silva speaks French.

The price doesn’t even feel that crazy when Maguire went for £80m. Fofana is ten times the talent that he was and is only 21.

My list would be similar with a few caveats.
Dembélé I think is just too risky (guy is a bit of a diva like Lukaku).

Lewa maybe at the right price, but *way* past his prime and a bit of a choker in CL.

De Jong at the right price, but don't see him as an upgrade for us. Same with Marc... would rather spend in the striker pos for ex.

Pedri, Ferran, and Gavi YES please! 

Raphinha too, but he's just joined them.

Inspiring is what it is. It's what we need to aim to create.

I'm not saying we can get to Barca's stature but we can improve on where we are now. This is not the work of a single ownership group mind you. It's taken Barca sixty-years to get where they are and they've had the benefit of great success and many great players, including three of the very, very best footballers who ever lived. It's a cocktail of things which have helped them become what they, Some ingredients of that cocktail we can't match; a one club city (sorry Espaniol), which helps generate a level of passion among the fans that we match in our hearts but not in the stadium, and a reputation for beautiful football, plus a climate and culture which is very attractive to young men.

We can't wave a wand and magic up these things tomorrow but we can start trying today.

Definitely agree. I think Magic Lamps pointed out that the chances of us contending for a title is slim without a legit striker. Our system is begging for it because we don't create enough chances. 

Our shape is made to have a strong defensive structure so how much do we need to spend on defense here? Would love Fofana but I'm only overpaying for a world class striker or Midfielder and those are rare. Being patient and not getting into more bad signings is what we need. 

With what we currently have we should definitely finish Top 4. If Tuchel can't find a way to do that then he has no excuses regardless if we make more signings or not.

Oh, the list was just purely hypothetical, based off chances NOW, at reasonable prices or free (Dembele). Obviously we would not have room for all those wingers at once unless we shitcanned all but Sterling.

Ronald Araújo would be a super CB pickup as well. ter Stegen was for backup unless Mendy collapses, and zero chance he would accept that.

FDJ would certainly be an upgrade over Jorginho IMHO.

I have no issues with where we stand in relation to Barca and Madrid. Even United and Liverpool have found their places behind those two with regards to losing big players to their clubs.

What does irk me and should never have happened is losing ground to Man City with regards to attractiveness of big clubs to move to. Given where both clubs started when money started flowing in, that we had a substantial foot up on them when they were acquired, location (London vs Manchester) and a lot of people outside the UK just assumed there was one club in Manchester and that was the team in red.

There's no excuse that we haven't kicked on more than we have. Yes there is a winning culture within the club from academy to women to first team which is to be proud of but it always feels like the club is one day away from a car crash to have to navigate or recover from. The short term approach the club has had has offered a ruthless streak that I'm sure clubs like United and Arsenal will have loved in recent years to try and instil better standards into their clubs, but it's come at a price in the long term being able to regularly challenge for the league title which should always be the bread and butter of our season. Slipping to the point where top 4 is the aim each season quite frankly isn't good enough.

I'm glad to see the new ownership willing to spend money and invest in the club but I'm also just as intrigued to see the longer term plans they put in place with regards to the people in 'power' positions running the club, stadium redevelopment, relationship with supporter groups, etc. Such things may not affect performances on the pitch but I do think they help to create a stable and warming environment at the football club which can follow into a more patient and stable model all round.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Chelsea have had an initial bid of €8 million (£6.76 million) for Casadei turned down last week.

The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners now plan to make a second and improved offer of €10 million (£8.45 million).

However, according to the report, former Serie A winners Inter want at least €15 million (£12.68 million) for the 19-year-old.

It’s probably good for us if Kepa stays since we’d retain a quality #2, but surely if he has an ounce of ambition in his body he will be desperately pushing to find another club if Napoli choose Navas? Does he want to be in the Spain WC squad or is he perfectly fine riding our bench and earning huge wages?

Wish there was a buyer or at least a loan. Even though Chelsea was footing 70% of the wages, the Napoli deal fell through.

Be hard to shift him permanently - financially at least. Loan doable but still difficult unless we subsidise a lot of his wages.

1) Clubs will have to pay a decent loan fee or if permanently, pay a sum which likely won’t be under 25 million considering he has another 3 years on his deal IIRC and cost 72m to start with.

2) Clubs will have to offer him a competitive wage packet, although doesn’t have the equal what he gets here but it will still likely be a pretty good wage. Even for loan, we will get stung with at least 75% of his salary as was touted for Napoli deal.

Plus if a teams needing a GK and can get Keylor Navas who is still a top GK, permanently, for less - why wouldn’t they?

I don’t think Kepa will get an easy move due to his price and wages. Be it permanently or on loan.
