Just had a look over on Barcaforum to see what they think of Fermín Lopez. They’re mostly really against selling him and think the reported €50m is far too cheap.

I disagree. He hasn't looked like a 50m starting role signing so far and lot of people rightly pointing out that saving the 50m spent on him would ease the problems in signing Simons

It would be pretty fucked up if we’ve been negotiating for and telling Xavi all summer that we really want him, agreed personal terms with him, and had him rejecting a bunch of other big clubs so that he can come here and then we switch to Fermín instead at the last moment. Especially if we were to end up paying a similar price.

If we had never been linked with Xavi Simons at all and Fermín was the first choice all along I’d be happy with him. But it would feel like a huge letdown for me personally if we don’t get Xavi now. I think he instantly slots in and hits the ground running and he reportedly really wants to play here.

With Fermín you’re signing a player who’s probably super sad and reluctant to be leaving his boyhood club. Who knows how he’d take to the PL.

Also can't take seriously any praise for 17yo player from Kazakhstan because odds are against him. There's never been good enough player from his country for top level, not even close.

It was similar a couple of years ago with Zakharyan and his career went nowhere...

How are you making this call after 1 game? 
 

He was BVBs second leading scorer despite getting benched at the end due to not being in the new managers plans. 
He scored 2 less goals than Xavi and Wirtz despite playing less minutes. 
 

So where is this assessment coming from? Aside from the 50 minute cameo - where he actually looked better than Palmer and J Pedro that game funnily enough.

Don't think it's a stretch to say Gittens coming in has not improved the starting XI. Could have saved the 50+ millions and signed a winger who could take on a starting role.

Oh look, Thor trying to be edgy again by backing every single transfer BlueCo makes.

Gittens will be given time to prove himself like every player does. Not impressed with his start or what I'm hearing from BVB fans who didn’t rate him at all and couldn’t care less when he left. They even mocked us for paying that amount. 
 

He’s going to need a fair few goals and assists to his name come the end of the season to justify that price tag.

Dortmund fans mocked us? Oh they must know it all. Just like how City fans mocked us buying Palmer and saying thanks for helping us get Doku. They really showed us!

Just commenting how hypocritical some are when a player who wasn’t wanted doesn’t hit the ground running from minute 1.

As of today if we sell/loan all of Disasi,Gilchrist,Chilwell,Nkunku,George,Sterling,Jackson and Datro Fofana and if we don't count Colwill and the goalkeepers we have 20 senior players. Taking into account the recent history of Wes Fofana, Lavia, Badiashile and James that is quite worrying. If we count Garnacho as done, I think we still need two more bodies in, or risk having very little to choose from on some matchdays. Hope everyone stays fit this time around and we deliver big time, but our last two seasons were severely damaged by injuries and I just don't want to see it happen again...

Dortmund fans were suprised that they got 50 million for him, they were saying he's a decent player but nothing more than 25-30 million.  

Even Arsenal backed away from the deal when they heard Dortmund's asking price, they were keen on him around the 25 million mark as a Trossard replacement.

Yea let's just erase what those 3 did for the club last season and start comparing to a pacey kid we just signed for 50 million and now he's likely to be a bench/rotation player in our attack. 

There's a reason why the club are keen on getting the Garnacho/Simons deals over the line and its because they know Gittens isn't anywhere ready to play week in week out.

With Santos coming back this season, I don't see any space for Mainoo.....although he is a big talent and hope he gets a chance to develop elsewhere for England's national team 😄

What does senior players mean? Estevao and Acheampong are more than ready so should be counted. 

GK: Sanchez, Jorgensen, Slonina 

CB: Badiashile, Chalobah, Tosin, Acheampong, Fofana 

RB: James, Gusto 

LB: Cucurella, Hato 

DM/CM: Santos, Essugo, Enzo, Caicedo, Lavia 

Attacking players: Palmer, Estevao, Neto, Gittens, Delap, Pedro 

Nkunku and Jackson are either staying or if not that means we get Garnacho and Simons. 

This is 25 players squad and all can contribute. Which position do you see lack of numbers? Plus we have a lot of players who can cover multiple positions like Hato CB, Gusto LB, Caicedo, Chalobah, Acheampong RB...

It's 50-50 that the fixture might be at home, which would be the ideal situation for Satpaev. In any case I meant only that a match against his parent club would be nice for the lad and for CFC fans similar to the way the Palmeiras game was. If we can avoid a 7000km trip that's good but, if it gets dumped on us, it gets dumped on us. We play the hand we're dealt.

Meanwhile, I know absolutely nothing about the lad so I have no opinion about his chances. Your points about the challenges he faces are obviously correct however.

This guy Fermin is more proven than Simons playing already in top club but both where will playing when you have Palmer and Estevao as RW and 10 rotations you have  Garnacho and Kittens on the left and Pedro Neto on the right .
