I have not always agreed with them (no one on here agrees with anyone 100 per cent of the time) but we all need to take in far more of a smaple size that a handful of games before writing players off

Was Gittens a prime target of mine for LWer? No, but I want to see that he can do over the course of a season before I am ready to bin him for good.

There’s been some confusion around Chelsea’s late flurry of transfer activity yesterday so I’ll do my best to explain it all from what we know. Chelsea do have an interest in Fermin Lopez of Barcelona and they could easily divert to him as a transfer target this week. However, as of right now, Xavi Simons is still the priority target for that position. Chelsea are still working on getting that deal done.

We heard yesterday from one of our sources that Chelsea showing an interest and speaking to the agent of Lopez is to put pressure on the Simons deal. It’s not a smokescreen as such because Chelsea have liked Lopez for a while. But as of right now, Simons is the one they want to get still. It can change fast and Chelsea could push more for Lopez should they decide to do that if Simons is not doable for whatever reason - but right now that has not happened.

Some were asking yesterday why we were prioritising Alejandro Garnacho over Simons. This is simply because Enzo Maresca is prioritising a winger over an attacking midfielder. He ideally wants and has asked for both positions, but if he had to chose one or the other, he would chose a winger over an attacking midfielder. Chelsea are still working to bring him both, and Chelsea are still working to bring him Garnacho and Simons. Maresca wants strong wide options and proper wingers. We still need to sell Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, but there is still an expectation that both will go.

It’s all getting a bit tense and a bit silly in my opinion as we enter the last five days of the window. Maresca wants attacking reinforcements, Chelsea need sales and want to buy players on their terms and will not have their pants pulled down in negotiations. So literally anything can still happen this window and we could see plenty more surprises, changes, and drama.

It is nothing like Cucu, Neto or Caicedo deals. All 3 had a serious body of work in the Premier League before they were signed. We are also in a far more settled version of our squad building right now and it was the wrong move to go for a young project winger for that money

Have we got to the stage where supporting Chelsea players, and not writing them off after a couple of appearances is now to be considered "edgy"?

Writing Gittens off as a complete bust after a couple of appearances is silly.

Saying that he already looks underwhelming isn’t going over the top, though. Because most of us thought that before we even bought him.

I’m sure he’ll be “okay” in the same way that Madueke was. Which for £55m is really stupid business.
