In all pictures released from training everyone is in training kit except Chilly. Have I missed something or is this quite strange?

No new front of shirt sponsor yet. I'm guessing that, unlike last season, they are reluctant to release the new kit without the sponsor's name on the front. Not for any preference of BlueCo's I would think, but because sponsors surely feel that maximizing the number of people acting as walking billboards promoting them, the better. I know I bought four shirts last summer, all for my granddaughter, and I moved to get them quickly before the sponsor was added. I know lots of people also did that so it could well have added up to an unacceptably high percentage of sponsor-free shirts moving through the world.

I suppose it makes sense for the club to try to give their new sponsor a better deal by trying to avoid that happening again.

Never even heard of him up until a few weeks ago. All I know is that he exploded onto the scene this past season.

Fair enough for being honest.

strong statement from me

and I mean it, as I can no longer sit and watch the attempted gaslighting/false slating:

People who shit on players in a Big 5 league mainly (or to a large degree) because they play for a non 'top 15 or 20 in the world club' (ie a 'big club') are clueless and do not understand football talent. Full fucking stop.

I have seen this bollocks for years here, and the old board/scouts did it with WC players like Camavinga, Tchou, Nicolò Barella (pre Inter), William Saliba, Victor Osimhen (prenapoli) Gabriel Magalhães, Rodri (pre AM), etc

I despise it as well. The level at which a person performs within reason should have minimal bearing for the reasons you stated. Players have to start somewhere and evolve to become the players they are, therefore the unnecessary shade thrown bothers me. Imagine if Messi (at NOB) or Ronaldo were breaking onto the scene today.

Mainly that we have enough options + back Levi Colwill - Can take off the kid gloves with him soon I feel. He's a good CB even though Poch system didn't exactly show him to be.

These supposed options are either constantly injured or, to put it bluntly, not good enough. If he played CB and RB, I would agree with you.

Chilly is on pretty big wages, right? I wonder if any PL will go near him with his large wages, high transfer fee we’d demand, and constant injuries. And he doesn’t strike me as a Saudi kinda guy as he’s only 27 and surely still in the England picture with their lack of LB’s.

Complete joke.

Only positive is that if he continues to struggle or look mediocre we’ll probably only have to put up with it until January. By then the club hierarchy will have realized how absolutely crucial a top bal playing keeper is to a Maresca system.

This is basically the club saying to Sanchez “you have one last chance to prove yourself. If not, we buy someone in January.”

At least I hope so.

Wouldn't be sorry to see Chilly go, best years seem to be behind him, injury record is insane and when he did play he was well below par. X reports suggest Notts Forest interested, with his salary, if we could recoup £15-17.5m I'd consider it good business reinvesting that towards Calafiori, again reiterating that I'm also ok with Levi going.

I think the sales are fine. Matsen I think may struggle in the PL due to his size and I think £37.5m is a decent fee. Hall is also fine, although I think he will become worth more than that fairly quickly. Hucth I am fine with so long as the 25% sell on is correct.

The problem for me is the buys. KDH is fine, but does he provide additional quality? Estevao and Kellyman are pure punts on 'talent', with Kellyman being particularly speculative. Guiu, is a good buy simply due to how low the fee and wages are reportedly. Tosin is ok as a free, but my Fulham mate has seriously worried me that he isn't that great at deafening, so not sure if he actually brings much to the table if my friend is to be believed.

What a crazy upside down world we live in where an 18 year old earning two million pounds a year can be accurately described as low waged. Poor lad

Not buying it. He might linger as this seasons Bettineli because he too is classed as homegrown but otherwise i don't see him lasting through pre-season. Nothing to be gained from putting out that players have no future, think if we get someone like Marmadashvili, either him or Kepa in the package will be something we'll attempt.

I’m not so sure.

Look at how the squad is geared up and how they absolutely believe in a huge % of the signings they’ve made are champions league players/a champions league squad. Going by that logic regarding players looking mediocre and struggling, you’d hope that other players like Mudryk also be under the same spotlight.

No doubt, Robert Sanchez will fall into that category also. Putting trust in this hierarchy is a dangerous game.

And ok Sanchez wasn’t quite as comfortable or confident playing out under de Zebri whose teams typically entice other teams to press them but he played a lot under Potter who also had him playing out. That would of been part of the criteria when the club identified him.
