Some think Calafiori is too good for us but in a way this is similar to Enzo. Had great international tournament and also league campaign. Cala is exactly the type of player our owners are after. I hope they put this as priority and if needed they step up themselves.

But for Enzo we didn't had competition in January. Now problem could be Arsenal or if he is like majority of Italians and don't want to leave that beautiful country.

The fact that Arteta wants Calafiori despite having Gabriel as their LCB who had a brilliant season must mean that he views him as more of a LB hybrid, surely? Wonder if Maresca thinks the same. He would compete with Cucu & Chilly rather than Colwill & Badiashile.

Though I’m still worried about overcrowding in these areas with another player added, if we do push hard for him I wonder if us now having an Italian manager could give us an advantage over Arse. You would think the chance to compete for the PL and UCL titles at Arse would make it a long shot for us.

Players will be leaving for sure. But still think it's not a case of Colwill and Calafiori having to compete for the same position.so Benoit if stays can compete to be  a 1st in line back up with Tosin. Alfie probably be loaned,Trev could easily it seems be shifted and Disasi with bit of luck.Fofana be great if recovers and gets back on track but shouldnt be counted on,having 3 quality CB's with Calafiori able to slide over i wouldnt say is overkill if you are able to accept there will be subtractions to go with the additions.

Same with Mamardashvili..when special players are available we can't tell them to wait for us to shift some others first and expect them to still be availablr or worry about inferior players getting gametime.

Just announced

I like this signing. KDH seems to me to have useful attributes to bring to our squad. Now we'll have the chance to see just how useful.

If we lose him to Arsenal I won't recover from this.

If Arsenal are willing and able to match our financial package to Calafiori, and I don't see why they wouldn't be, then they have a lot of advantages over us regarding competing at the highest levels immediately. The only thing I see as a potential recruiting advantage for us is that he is likely to have a harder time earning minutes at Arsenal than with us. They have a much more settled, and more successful, CB partnership then we do. For good measure they also have good cover at left back. He can't realistically expect to be an automatic first choice at the Emirates, but such unexpectation would be reasonable if he moved to Stamford Bridge.

Welcome aboard KDH.nice signing at good value for us. Like this window so far.2 or 3 more first team additions then we should be done with the additions. My favourite 3 now out of ones we have been linked with would be Mamardashvili,Calafiori and David.

So far some pretty good business

I think the sales are fine. Matsen I think may struggle in the PL due to his size and I think £37.5m is a decent fee. Hall is also fine, although I think he will become worth more than that fairly quickly. Hucth I am fine with so long as the 25% sell on is correct.

The problem for me is the buys. KDH is fine, but does he provide additional quality? Estevao and Kellyman are pure punts on 'talent', with Kellyman being particularly speculative. Guiu, is a good buy simply due to how low the fee and wages are reportedly. Tosin is ok as a free, but my Fulham mate has seriously worried me that he isn't that great at deafening, so not sure if he actually brings much to the table if my friend is to be believed.
