Olise is unquestionably an upgrade on Madueke. If he's available at ~£60m as rumoured and wants to join Chelsea we should immediately buy him and figure everything else out later. He's a total baller and we'd find a good spot for him in the XI inevitably. Icing on the cake is he's a set-piece specialist. Big question is whether he actually wants to be here though, given he didn't join last summer despite us apparently trying hard for him (even though I wanted him badly all summer, who knows if we end up buying Cole Palmer if we had got him? so maybe should be thankful for that...)

If we can get Olise at ~£60m and Sesko ~£55m as rumoured then imo that is a great all around upgrade to our attack and that is a pretty unbelievable attacking line up going into the season, albeit still with some questions around our situation at the back.

we already scored a lot of goals last season and if we can get nkunku fit plus olise plus another cf - I would prefer Alvarez - I think we would have a pretty decent attack

Yes, maybe it's OK given that we missed out on Europe... dunno.

On the other hand, Caicedo played a LOT of games this season as did Cole and Conor. Caicedo in particular has Ugo(?!) as his immediate sub.
Caicedo for ex is Ecuador international, and there is Copa America this year.

Conor situ is also a bit weird; is he going for a new deal or wants to walk free? If the latter, then reckon the club shouldn't wait.

A goal scoring tally we did get by playing unbelievably open football that cost us a record number of goals conceded though.

Looks like his agent making noise because of potential interest from big clubs on him.

Wants assurances around starting position/importance and likely money to match? dunno what his current deal looks like.

Only signed a contract last year. He did make some noise then as well about whether he'd stay so not sure we can expect much loyalty tbh.

Hopefully its all nonsense and he stays. Would be painful to watch another one of our very promising defenders develop at another club while we get stuck conceding a record number of goals.

I would have thought our new manager would really want Colwill though, can play CB and a LB role where he tucks into 3 to make 3 ATB too. Has high potential in his passing game. And he's only 21.

This could be the case, but isn't he toed down to 7 years or something? For me, I wouldn't put it past Clownlake wanting the HG FFP profit.

He just got a new deal ane played a lot until his injury in fact because of his ball playing ability he'd be a nailed on starter under Maresca. This seems very callous from his agent if this is true. Bayern would have to give us near 80-90m for his services if not more.

We shouldn’t even be picking up the phone for anyone inquiring about Colwill. He could be one of, if not THE key player under Maresca.

Isn't Plettenberg Tier 3? He has inside sources at Bayern but nothing elsewhere. Bayern have Colwill as a target if they don't get Tah, however I'd imagine the conversation Bayern reps and Clearlake have over the availability of Colwill will last fewer than 3 seconds.

I'm more worried about where Nkunku and Palmer fit into this. Neither would benefit as being a wide left sided winger, and both together in the #8 positions would be very top heavy.

Yes, long contracts provide some guarantees, but as soon as big clubs show interest, it's his agent's job to ask for an adjustment depending on which tier he is. Say, he's on a rotation/backup deal, and he becomes a sure starter in D; that usually comes with an adjustment to match the new role.

Agreed tho. He's both the best CB in the squad atm as well as the most suited for the new system.

Yes, its one of the very interesting puzzles. Going to be interesting to see it play out. One argument is for Palmer to play as an 8, and Nkunku out of position sort of awkwardly on LW. Or Nkunku up top, and Jackson on the LW (perhaps also a bit awkwardly). Also, an experiment with Palmer as a false 9 would not surprise me either.
