Barcelona's Ronald Araujo on the brink of exit amid financial struggles

https://www.planetsport.com/soccer/news/barcelonas-ronald-araujo-on-the-brink-of-exit-amid-financial-struggles

FC Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo is reportedly on the verge of being sold this summer as the club grapples with severe financial woes.

The Uruguayan centre-back, once seen as a cornerstone for the future, now appears to be a prime candidate for departure.

Sources from Barca Reservat indicate that Araujo's disenchantment began following the club's reaction to his error against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals. Barcelona ended up crashing out of the tournament 6-4 on aggregate.

Despite public reassurances from President Joan Laporta about renewing Araujo's contract, no satisfactory offer has materialized.

"Araujo has felt undervalued," reports suggest, highlighting the lack of tangible support from the club.

Although he signed a reduced contract in 2022 with promises of an improved deal soon after, Barcelona's current financial limitations have stalled any significant renegotiations.

This has left Araujo feeling edged out, especially as lucrative offers from other clubs loom.

Interest in Araujo is high. Bayern Munich engaged in discussions with him in January, although contact has since ceased. More pressing, perhaps, is Manchester United's reported readiness to swoop in should Araujo indicate his willingness to leave Barcelona.

The club's financial predicament makes Araujo's sale a logical yet bittersweet decision. Comparatively, fellow youngster Pedri's market value has declined, highlighting the contrasting fortunes within the squad.

Barcelona's need to balance their books could mean losing a promising talent like Araujo, a move that underscores the harsh realities facing the club in these challenging financial times.

only top 20 valuation player on the planet who is still on the board is Osimhen

I’ve been all for Osimhen for the past couple of years but I wonder if it’s still advisable for us to go that huge on another classic #9.

Having watched a bunch of vids of your countryman Gyokeres he looks like the sort of striker we should perhaps target instead. Looks like a better all around footballer.

And what happens with Paez, Angelo, and Omari Hutchinson? Feels like we’ve gone WAY overboard signing all these teenaged wingers who will all be around the same age.

we are basically gambling that one of these players will become a world class player.

i would sell madueke now, but in reality he will probably get one more season to prove himself. hutchinson and angelo should again go on loan, maybe one can stay if they progressed enough to be a backup...

i am probably in the minority but im not against this type of aproach from our board.

We should be all over this if true. Would be perfect for our Defense with his proactive style and is supposedly a leader.

Normally would be angry we're paying so much for someone with so little games but he looks like a gem. I'm happy with him and Paez, shame we didn't get over the line Endrik as well..

I mean it’s no different to what we did under Roman which helped the club FFP purposes. Estevao and Paez are considered first team signings whereas there will be those that will be loaned and sold for profit.

If Estevao is this generational player he should have no problem playing on the left given his unique dribbling ability.

How does this work for FFP as they are technically youth players atm?

Does their purchase price come into play once they hit a certain age/no longer youth team distinction or how does it work against our FFP numbers?
