you say that about RJ but I'm still not convinced of his defensive abilities. He still gets caught ball watching.

Is this a joke?

Name me one player on the planet that man marked both Vinicius Jr and Leao out of the game entirely.

Am I the only one who doesn't see it with Odegaard? Even last week with Arsenal in full control he was invisible.

Smith Rowe looks comfortably better from what I've seen.

He definitely ghosts. But at least he's one of those mids who has the ability to make the risky forward passes.

Regarding Mount, right now he is a level or sometimes 2 under Reece hence why I don't think we will offer him close to what we offered Reece. Mount also needs to reflect on this and work on his game. Tbh Reece is just different gravy.

People say Mount is not on his level this season but I dont see any difference 4 seasons now. For example last season he scored in one game from beginning of the season till December 1st. so almost 4 months and that was against worst team in the league Norwich. This season again, scored in just one game and that was gift from AV defense and freekick. He is playing as one of front 3 players.

People use this argument that he is our POTY but these people who voted him are to blame for this contract situation now. He thinks he is better than he is because of things like this.

Last season we played 6 comps and he pretty much did not do anything in 5 of them. In fact he is number one reason we lost EPL and FA Cup finals. In PL he scored 11 goals but if you look deeper you will see that just one came against teams higher than 15th place on table.

So he was nowhere near good last season but some people thought he deserved POTY. And now he is probably using this argument for new contract but since there are problems in negotiations I am happy that some people in board see more realistic picture. If he thinks he will attract interest from other big teams he is very deluded. Teams like Everton, AV will come at best for him.

Every time we are discussing Mount I feel I am in minority with my opinion. But when I read comments in news like this I see that my opinion on Mount is most common among football fans.

Mount's problem is when playing as part of the attack, he rightfully should be judged for his attacking output like the other attacking players. There are other elements that he can bring but ultimately his goals and assists aren't enough for us to be challenging consistently, like the rest of our attackers.

He should be playing in midfield. It's as simple as that. His game suits being a 'connector' between midfield and attack as he's intelligent and adept at finding pockets of space, even when a game looks congested. In a midfield three, he'd still be given some licence to attack and use his work rate and natural fitness to get up and down the pitch. I understand 2, 3, 4 years ago playing him in a role further forward but he's not some scrawny little kid anymore; he's combative enough to handle himself in the midfield.

But if we're talking a Chelsea side that operates with only 3 attackers and Mount is one of them, I don't believe that is sustainable unless he starts channelling an inner Lampard and can get 15-20 goals and 15-20 assists consistently every season.

Top transfer values for non-big-5 U25 players

https://www.football-observatory.com/IMG/sites/b5wp/2022/wp396/en/

The 396th CIES Football Weekly Post presents the 100 players outside the big-5 who have not yet turned 25 with the highest estimated transfer value. Three players stand out with values of around €60 million: Benfica’s Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández, PSV Eindhoven’s Dutch striker Cody Gakpo and Porto’s Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Costa.

Only one other player outside the big-5 has an estimated value of more than €50 million: Portuguese centre back Gonçalo Inacio (Sporting CP). The highest transfer values for footballers playing outside of Europe were recorded for Brazilians: Yuri Alberto (Corinthians, €30m), Danilo Oliveira (Palmeiras, €29m) and Marcos Leonardo (Santos, €28m). Fifteen leagues are represented in the top 100, with a maximum of 21 players for the Dutch Eredivisie.

The values were estimated on the basis of a statistical model developed by the CIES Football Observatory research team from almost 5,000 paid transfers concluded over the last decade. A scientific article explaining the approach is available in open access. Estimates for more than 15,000 players from about 50 leagues worldwide are available through a paying platform. Do not hesitate to contact us about this.
