We have several, the other aspect is we have Colwill. We have options.

I dont see top CBs after Kounde. Kimbempe does not want to leave, Gvardiol will have big price tag, Pavard/Upamecano lol
I would move on and focus on sells and one attacker. We are still shit there.
Change formation for 4 at back and try K2-Silva/Chalobah. Colwill and Ampadu stay.

The club really should learn from the Raphinha situation and just give the fucker till midnight today to make a clear decision whether he'll join or not.

If yes, complete the deal within the next 24 hours.

If he hesitates, tell him he's free to wait for a Barcelona bid that may never come and the Chelsea offer isn't on the table anymore. Enough of this waiting around, the season starts in two weeks.

That's the deal...

Its not funny anymore....I don't even give a fukc if a player rejects or doesn't want to play for us....I can't cope with Lukaku situation again next season....move on Raphinha and Kounde though good doesn't want this transfer paparazzi....

Never, EVER again should we table a bid until the player himself gives their word that they want to come. It makes us look like total amateurs and a small club.

Looks like two identical chains of events now. Bid massive money, agree with the selling club, player himself finds terms acceptable, then the player decides on Barca.

DO NOT BID FOR A PLAYER WITHOUT THEIR IRONCLAD COMMITMENT TO MOVE TO Chelsea!

Not to say Kounde to Barca won't happen but how the fuck can Gerard Romero not have a clue that Kounde was going to Portugal, but suddenly he knows all the ins and outs.  He's a waffler.

Sevilla's number 1 source still claims we are exchanging documents and he has travelled simply to not be on his own training; and is awaiting news from his agent re. Chelsea deal.  So lets see

Was always going to pose a problem this summer with the sanctions. I've said it multiple times, so many of these deals are being worked on for months in advance. Few will still end up coming to fruition or into the public eye. Players can also change their mind up to the last minute before its confirmed. We all took great pleasure in Willian's song being sung to bait Spurs fans for years.

Unfortunately for us, we've targeted a number of players this window that other teams have also courted and likely worked on longer than us.

We've also got someone with no experience leading transfers this summer trying to literally do everything to run the club. I think the likes of Bayern and Barca have shown a cuter/cunning side to turning players heads without even making bids for players, buying them time to sort deals or leveraging their power in transfer negotiations.

Once this window is over, we'll have the opportunity to rebuild properly for the long term with a new sporting director, etc. It feels a bit of a train wreck at present but ultimately there's only so many players at the higher end of the market available and multiple clubs will want these players. We've been stuffed by the sanctions and been swimming against a tide all summer.

Boehly has been made to look like a proper mug by Barcelona.

Laporta inviting him for dinner then immediately beating him to both Raphinha and Kounde. Its as if Laporta got Boehly drunk and got him to admit all of his transfer plans.

Pathetic.

If Kounde does end up at Barcelona (not much of a loss IMO), it will be down to us. We've blown hot & cold for the last three windows, so blame should be pointed in the right direction.

The only similarity to the Raphinha saga is Barcelona being involved.

If it was happening to another club we'd be laughing..unfortunately it's us!! Seriously twice this window! Losing to the same club....

Feels like a waste of a window in a way which you knew would be. Hopefully we have enough to get top 4 cause we aint competing for the title really..maybe to start with but once gets going...

This is Sevilla's arguably number 1 source giving his view of Romeros "Barca asked him to go to Portugal, should have had medical with us today etc but chose to listen to barca instead"

The Sevilla guys view  "Dumb, Dumb Dumb"

Romero should be gospel now after Raphinha.

As long as RJ and Chilly stay fit and TT plays his 343 we can basically stick two training cones next to Thiago and still be defensively resilient. so I am not too bothered about how this saga ends.

It is always frustrating when You lose out on your primary targets. Esp vs Brokealona. But there are still a few great cheap cb options out there.

If we don't get him, I just hope we don't panic buy someone. @Vesperput a list on here last night of centre backs remaining on the market and bar maybe Skriniar and Gvardiol, none stand out to me as worth pursuing. I'd rather just rely on Chalobah developing and playing more regularly next season in that role, or target a right wing back to allow James to play more regularly in the back 3.

if the Kounde deal is actually scuppered by Barca,

and

if you take Gvardiol (2023 release clause in only viable way to buy him) off the board

then we are down to these CB buy options

Milan Skriniar
Alessandro Bastoni
Pau Torres
José María Giménez
Presnel Kimpembe
Evan Ndicka

Robin Le Normand
Stefan de Vrij
Merih Demiral
Gonçalo Inácio
Roger Ibañez

Thilo Kehrer
Odilon Kossounou
Castello Lukeba
Maxence Lacroix
Abdou Diallo
Piero Hincapié
Adam Webster
David Carmo
Min-jae Kim
Attila Szalai
Armel Bella-Kotchap
