Yeah thanks, that's pretty much what i figured. Feels like he would definitely be a really good option for us to have, but not the big money solution to our problems, that we should be looking for.

I think its more so the latter. We need a clinical focal point vs another attack heavily involved in build up.

So Haaland.

He looks like a good player, but nowhere near 70m or what we should aspire to in our main striker to me. Also haven't seen him that much though, is he better than i'm giving him credit for?

he is not worth £60m at this point in his career

£35m, 40m, sure

and I have followed him since 2016

he is fairly unique, would not be at all upset to see him come for a fair price

Think we would all like Haaland but if he doesn’t arrive we need to do something

If it's not someone elite like Haaland or Kane, then the sensible option is to either use our budget on other areas that need strengthening or save our budget, and in doing so roll with Werner and Havertz being focal points of our attack next season.

He's pretty good technically. Great dribbler and link up play.

When you look at our current attacking players metrics in build up, they are all heavily involved. When you compare it to Isak and Haaland, the former looks like he would better suit us. But that is the question. Are we so poor at finishing because we have too many players involved in the build up and no one being the clinical focal point? If that is the case Haaland is the answer.

You don't think Tuchel will make Haaland get involved in the build up too?

Tuchel often mentioned how the attacking players likely get affected with their decision making/execution in the final third because of the work they put in off the ball.

And think the issue is not whether Haaland is the answer, but whether can the club afford to spend big on him. If the answer is really no, then obviously we go to the alternatives like Isak etc.

Haaland or not, we need another striker. Assuming both Giroud and Abraham are leaving, it's very risky to go into a long season with just 2 options to lead the line and neither of them are a typical #9 either.

In that situation then I would keep one of them.

If someone is prepared to pay what we want for Tammy then let him go and retain Giroud.

If nobody is prepared to pay what we want for Tammy, then keep him and let Giroud leave.

Wouldn't necessarily mind Abraham staying if need be but that would require a u-turn from Tuchel and both parties to reconcile. The club may also have to live with the fact that Abraham may not sign a contract extension and he will have only a year left come next summer.

Think you pretty much answered your own question. You'd hope Tuchel would want an attacker that is the clinical focal point vs having an additional attacker involved in build up which ruins the execution of the attack.

Wait, are you saying that we need a pure poacher leading the line and one that does nothing else apart from scoring?

What I said there with Tuchel is that he indirectly puts the blame on the work the players have to put in without the ball, not with the ball and has nothing to do with the buildup. Given our Champions League success was a prime example (and a good template for success) of the 11 players putting a shift in offensively and defensively, I'd be surprised Tuchel suddenly veers away from that. Haaland or not.

I don't think the problem is whether that striker is too involved in the buildup or not (didn't stop the likes of Drogba and Costa from scoring goals in the past). All our attackers get chances to score. It's only the final execution that has been the problem.

Yeah that is definitely the risk involved with Tammy. However given the whole Covid situation, etc I can't see someone paying around £40m for him like is being reported as to what we want for him.

Realistically someone might come in with £25-30m, but then there is the possibility that he could command around £20-25m next summer so it may be worth the risk of holding him an extra year.

I think though if you drop beyond Haaland on the list, and you're looking for an option of a poacher striker who is more in the team to score and less to get involved in the build up play then keeping Tammy seems more sense than a number of the alternative options, none of which are elite.

I agree on the Tuchel part though, the last thing we need is that relationship turning sour between manager and board before it's barely started because Tuchel is having to coach players that he doesn't want. Hopefully though the bigger picture can be seen here and if a suitable striker isn't available this summer we do have one currently sat in the stands who could do a job this season, and then leaves us in a position to move on a target next summer.

His salary, Mino fee, transfer fee and add-ons, etc would total to £170+ million or so

Manure are offering him a £104m contract! that is fucking madness

and he is shite in the EPL overall for what Manure has paid him

he needs to go back to grandpa league Serie A

I wouldn't exactly classify Haaland as a poacher.

I also wouldn't call our current system something that's sustainable when we are currently 16th in the conversion charts since Tuchel's appointment. Something to build upon yes, but something that will eventually collapse should the execution of our chances not be fixed this summer. Again, I am firmly on the boat of wagering utter capitulation should we go into next season in the hopes our current attackers find better form.

1st in chances created under Tuchel. Haaland would at least provide the team a focal point to be at the end of the chances we create.
