He is being honest about prioritizing matches because of potential revenue for the club. I don't think his squad will roll over, but he may hold out some key players. True but I would still expect Spurs to beat Maccabi Haifa at home with a half strong/weak team. I know it's a League Cup game but it's still a Spurs v Chelsea fixture. Would be surprised if Mourinho doesn't try and field the strongest XI possible for this, especially after losing 3 times to Lampard. They needed the opposition to get down to nine men to even get past the first qualifier and the Europa (odds wise) is probably he best shot at CL football next season. I can't see him chancing a scratch side Vs Maccabi. It would be hilarious if he was this petty but I can't imagine it. Muzchap

I personally believe hes preparing his excuse just incase Lampard gives him another tactical spanking, a bit like the " only finished 6th because I prioritized Europa" line at the end of his first season at United. Hutcho 8,443
I don't think Jose is gonna put out a strong team.If he plays the second string. They either lose and he has the easy excuse of them losing the game because of the scheduling. If they beat us they beat us with the second team and he looks even better. It's kind of a win win for him. Artandur

Unionjack 7,531
I thought Pulli was fit? Id start him on left with CHO on right and Reece behind him, Get the team at least looking like it should look after all fit.

petre.ispirescu 4,928
They have played five matches in the last two weeks and traveled through Europe twice and still they have to play some nothing club in EL Q less than 48 hours after this and then United at the week end. Really no excuses if Chelsea do not get through to the next round.
Hutcho 8,443
Why play a full strength team? Spurs will definitely rotate with Thursday in mind. Can give gametime for guys like Ross, Oli and TomoriBecause beating spurs means a lot regardless of the competition and we can't say we were firing on all cylinders. We have the international break coming up so from a Chelsea stand point we are looking at 2 games before players go off elsewhere. Sure can play Ross or tomori in place I don't think we lose much with either of those on place. But with Werner he has looked really good in 2/3 games so I think if we can get him a goal and some confidence he can kick on.But I can see arguments for rotating but I think silva needs game time and if zouma is fit (no idea what happenned to zouma) then we should develop the centre back and keeper partnership and try to stick with that throughout the prem. Chilly needs game time etc.Attacking we can go various ways but I'd like to see some sort of established back line get a good run of games together the only difference being reece/azpi blending in. But of all our defence azpi or reece are the ones I'm least worried about it.

I'd imagine they don't play this week and then play when we get back from international break.Pulisic doesn't have any games with the USA so if he leaves him out these 2 then he effectively has another 3 weeks to fully get over the injury unless he wants to give him a 30 min run out at the weekend. Pizy 18,918
Think we'll play a very strong team. Maybe have Giroud up top instead of Tammy and Barkley instead of Mount.

This is all well and good of you have 4 CBs of a standard to compete for top 2 places. And yes rotations necessary - but lets see how many games Mason plays this season
Jase 43,479
Only 2 players in our current squad have scored winners against Tottenham in recent years (assuming I did not miss out on anyone)...
