They are both shit for the way we play and can’t replace Chilwell pace and movement in any way. We will completely lose our current rhythm and doing so beyond January could completely derail our season

That's the right question but I'm afraid that I don't have a good answer to it.

I've read  on Sky Blue News that Cov fans like Maatsen but I haven't watched him there so I have no valid opinion beyond one based on his development squad outings and his cameo against Grimsby.

I think it's quite telling how we are more worried for Chilwell than Kante being out with a knee injury. 

Both he and James are absolutely vital for us.

Telegraph / Matt Law is the source, usually one of the most reliable for the club in fact. Of course that doesn't mean it's true Chilwell's done his ACL, as the article only says they are now seriously fearing for it and will know more after the scans.

One thing to consider if Chilwell is indeed out for a prolonged period of time is the possibility of using Saul Niguez as LWB, he played there a lot for Atletico last season and a few times at the start of this season before his move. It's not quite happened for him at Chelsea so far but as a rotation LWB option to give Alonso the occasional rest there are worse ideas, I suppose.

Obviously we all fear for the worst that it was his ACL but we don't know for sure. 

Positive news is that Tuchel said Ben felt fine after the match but we do not know the full context of that.

Unlike Chilly. We can somewhat replace Kante without changing the idea we play. For James it is similar. 

still those three and Mendy are maybe our most important players rn.

Literally praying this isn't true. My only hope is that, the apparent link is from the Sun. Either way, not hopeful but clinging on to hope. Alonso has done well at LWB, but Chilwell is just better and has been world class recently.
