He woulda been my motm if Mata the magician didn't do what he did. He was immense against Arsenal and Tottenham. Also against Bayern and Barca last season. A man for the big games it seems. So much better with Ramires it has to be said, but we all knew that a while ago didn't we! The only fuck up he made was for Yids 2nd goal but everyone makes mistakes. Some are more highlighted than others. He's so good on the ball. With that starting line up and a proper striker, we have the perfect balance.

As somone who always thought Mikel isnt good enough to be our first DM, I was ready to "give him a chance" in the start of the season for his brilliant performances in the end of last season.... and in the last few games he impressed me i got to say. So quiet on and off the ball, seem he has full of confidence now, and his familiar physical qualities fits like a glove to the energy and aggressiveness of Ramires. Still have things to get better in, but it looks good and also he's style realy fits our trio "H.O.M". Keep it up John!

Those saying he's been playing this way for years aren't necessarily right. I'm probably the biggest Mikel fanboy and he's impressing me more and more these days. His passing has been much more adventurous and he isn't as afraid to run with the ball. His passing percentage suffers a bit now, but it's well worth it.

I agree. He's always been good on the ball but he's improving his defensive play while he's also playing a (slightly) quicker and more adventurous game. Ramires' presence also gives him more confidence of moving into advanced positions, offering support to the attacking players and he does it well.

But I think the most important change is the fact that he has a (defensive) partner next to him as he used to be the lone DM. That was a much harder role.

Proving himself to be one of the best DM's in the PL. He fits like a glove in this new style of ours. It may just be me but I think he has quickened up his passing and decision making a bit. He seems to have embraced the challenge of trying to play more slick, passing football and stepped up his game.

That's because now people like Mata, Hazard and Oscar find space and demand the ball. Mikel has never had passing options like he has now. We used to play like statues, nobody moving and creating passing lanes. Everybody was just standing still and waiting for something to happen. Now we have players roaming, finding space and showing for the ball. Mikel has never been the problem. People used to complain he holds on to the ball too long. What was he supposed to do? Pass to somebody who was standing still and had defenders on him? He was abused for his intelligence and is now being praised with backhanded compliments "oh he's improved, he passes quicker etc" haha makes you wonder what the hell people are watching sometimes.

If somebody finds space and shows for the ball Mikel will find him 10/10. If they stand still and have defenders on them he will keep possession and make simple passes until he has better options. Only Mikel gets abuse for that. In Spain they would treat him like a king.

He suits perfectly to our squad. He seems so relaxed while playing and he really enjoys beeing the part of this team.
