Obviously Piatek would have been the way better move as almost everyone here said. But sure Sarri wanted his Higuain and like everyone of Sarri's ideas, an idea from yesterday.. Not that he is a bad player. Just so much worse then everything else we could have had if the board would have one bit of sense and not trust this fraud.

Higuains movement has been absolutely sublime tbf even vs Everton. It is just everything else that has been shit, mainly his mobility and finishing. That is why I hope he gets at least one of the games vs Prague who are error-prone defensively so he can score a few and get in the groove again. How can lack match sharpness tho? he has been training with the team for 2 months and always gets midweek off. he should be fresh as fuck. He is 31 thats still ok for a striker, Drogs had his best season aged 32. I just hope that if we can keep him next season, he has one good year left in the tank cos everything will depend on it. I miss the times of having a world class striker more than ever because we do not even have a world class goal-scoring midfielder.

The way we play I doubt Piatek would be the solution. We needed striker who is very good on the ball for hold up and linkup. Piatek is poacher and quite average on the ball. If we played counter football, that would be another story though.

Higuain could have to return to Juventus

Chelsea's final decision on Higuain leaves Juventus in trouble

https://www.calciomercato.com/en/news/chelsea-s-final-decision-on-higuain-leaves-juventus-in-trouble-65058

Chelsea are not going to extend Gonzalo Higuain's stay at the Stamford Bridge, the Daily Mirror reports.. The Argentinean has managed three goals in seven Premier League appearances since he joined the Blues on loan last January and Chelsea have decided that his stay in South West London is not going to be long term.

Chelsea can either extend Higuain's loan spell for one more season (for € 18 million) or make the striker's move permanent for € 36 million.

The former Napoli and AC Milan striker, however, is expected to return to Turin. The Argentinean will return to Turin where Juventus don't have term plans form him either. The problem is that Juve will have to sell Higuain for at least € 36 million. A lower fee would mean a capital loss which the Old Lady doesn't want.

The Old Lady doesn't want to have el Pipita in their squad for next season and will be looking for another possible destination for the Argentinean at the end of the season. This has been one of the worst campaigns of his career with both spells at AC Milan and Chelsea that proved to be unsuccessful. Higuain has only two months left to prove his detractors wrong and convince Chelsea to give him (and Maurizio Sarri) one more chance.

Chelsea ready to cut Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain has not convinced Chelsea that he is ready to cut it at the end of the season sending him back to Juventus. According to the Daily Mirror the English club is not satisfied with the investment made for the Argentine striker and has no intention of renewing the loan from Juventus.

I was afraid he might flop when we got linked with him in the summer and was relieved he didn't come, unfortunately looks like the inevitably still happened. I think Morata would've done better.

He was never going to set the World on fire. He has done a fairly decent job to be honest, nice link up play, few goals and poses a threat when he get's chances. More than what we've had since Costa.

the expectations from higuain were different

A reminder that Higuain has scored only 3 goals since joining us and they were against the 19th and 20th placed teams Fulham and Huddersfield...

Fair enough but hes still 10x better than Morata and I still think that in the final third we are so pedestrian. He moves and doesnt recieve the pass at times, fair enough it doesnt always mean he could have scored more but the lack or quality in the final third in terms of creating chances is terrible. That has been our Achilles heel last season and this season. Creating chances in games.

Have to disagree with you: higuain first touch against Cardiff was embarrassing... something you’d expect from a retiree who’s way past his prime.

i was never a fan, but this was way below his or this level.

His record at Milan wasn't great either. Best days are behind him.

To say he's 10x better than Morata might be exaggerating it. Both are just genuinely terrible in their own ways. At the very least, on the rare occasions when Morata is on it, he gives us a bit of presence in the box with his height (his link-up play isn't too bad either) and offers pace in our attack. We now have two strikers with snail pace leading the line (at least one isn't doing too bad in Europe) !

Age has caught up to Higuain ... His body doesnt respond to him the way his brain thinks. He surely see the gaps where he wants the ball but when he gets them, he doesnt has the pace to outrun the defender, doesnt has the physicality to push off the defender. He had quite few chances in the box yesterday and all the time the defender just shooed him off and took away the ball.

After last night I really dont see any advantage of having him over Morata ... one seems to is handicapped physically while the other mentally.
