Suicidal player to have in front of the defence. Presses high up the pitch and vacates so much free space to attack when he inevitably fails to win the ball. About as stupid as asking Fabregas to be the only CDM. Ridiculous tactics.

Part of me desperately want to see the people suffer a meltdown over Jorginho had he gone to Man City and done well under Guardiola. Those same fellas who are criticizing now would be the same ones bashing the board for messing up on this transfer. Not saying Jorginho has been perfect because he hasn't but it's easy to forget that this is only his first season in English football and he's operating in a clueless side when going forward. Sure he has messed up passes when he shouldn't but those criticizing him for not passing forward, have you seen movement from the attacking players on a consistent basis? How is Jorginho supposed to pass forward when the players in front of him are just standing around waiting to receive the ball at their feet rather than getting onto them?

Also, to those comparing Jorginho with Fabregas, going from a starter to a squad player can sure change people's perception. I don't want to start a debate on who's the better player but it's so easy to forget that while Fabregas has his qualities, his performance level went south like from 2015 onward. There were plenty of complaints how he didn't dominate games and was getting caught out, repeatedly, in defensive situations but because he hasn't been a first team player in ages, people suddenly think he's this perfect midfielder, capable of playing accurate passes every single time and does no wrong on the pitch. He certainly wasn't. Rewind back 3-4 years and I'm sure there are plenty of complaints about Fabregas basically going downhill.

Jorginho hasn't been perfect but he is less of an issue compared to the more glaring ones we have in the team. Hell, you might even argue that Sarri is doing him no favors by making us play non-existent attacking football and average players to try and implement that style. It's pathetic that we're living at a time when people are constantly finding problems all over the place when there more specific ones to worry about and fix.

Had chance to rest Jorginho for Fabregas in certain competitions didn't do it. Had the chance to rest Alonso for Emerson, didn't do it. Had the chance to rest Willian/Pedro for CHO has hardly done it. 

Whilst we need better players the rotation has been fucking horrific.

Is Sarri gonna pretend not having an option for Jorginho isn't his fault? He had Fabregas. He could and should have rotated more between him and Jorginho but nooo, he decided to play the latter 95% of the time and caused the former to leave because of the lack of playing time.

Watching Jorginho against Newcastle made me think about his performances of late, and maybe I'm missing something, and I stand to be corrected if this is the case, but I'm starting to think this guy is stealing a living at Chelsea. The guy is great at 4 yard sideway passes, but ask the lad to split an opposition defence or play a ball over the top to feet and he's incapable of doing it. I think his stats in the Premiership is that he has made the most passes but not one assist to his name !!. He has been rumbled and teams are smothering him, but if he's as great as Sarri insists he is I expect a lot more from him. To see Cesc leaving on a free is a crime, and no back up in place. If we bought a Central defender I'd love to try Luiz in his role as he has a far greater eye for the killer pass and shows much more creativity, and if Kante dropped slightly further back to assist him defensively it could work. I'm beginning to think that Jorginho is Sarri's secret love child as he can do no wrong in the managers eyes....But I'm no manager so.am I missing something??

Think he's completely burnt out. As far as him not having any impact on our attack, I don't blame him at all. We saw with Napoli that he was excellent at the "Fabregas pass" over the top. He tries it repeatedly here (as we saw yesterday) but since we aren't playing with someone who naturally makes those runs up top they're useless.

I think he's the biggest beneficiary of the possible incomings of Paredes and Higuain. One plays exactly like he does so he can be rested frequently and the other is the picture perfect forward that plays to his strengths.

Sad and frustrated to see so many Chelsea fans on social media having a go at him. Members of the media who don't pay close enough attention as well. Yes, his form has dropped lately but there's a reason why. And it's not ability.

Allyour points make sense and I'm happy to be corrected. Yes he maybe a bit burnt out but he is starting to frustrate me. But i still think that in his position he should have some assists to his name for the amount of games he has played. Even Cesc, with limited playing time had a couple I think. But after reading your post I will give him more time

Why do people who keep on banging about Jorginho not having an assist talk as if he does not pass forward? He does tee up others to shoot at goal but he can't do anything if others miss the chance, can he? I mean, look at the chance he set up for Willian yesterday after Newcastle scored. Was a good pass and a good chance but of course Willian put it wide. Not saying Jorginho has been perfect with all his passes but he has been unlucky by having incompetent finishers in front of him.

Yes, he played a ball over the top for Hazard to win the penalty against Watford in similar circumstances. He is capable of doing it, but the movement of the players in front of him at the moment either isn't good enough or isn't in sync with him.

He has made a big difference to our teams ability to dominate the ball. We were regularly under 50% possession last season or just above it and it's not a coincidence that his arrival has helped drastically change that. I know possession doesn't win games but the ability to dominate the ball should in theory lead to more opportunities to create chances, less opportunities for the opposition and tiring out the opponent trying to chase the ball around. 

I think we've become more solid defensively throughout the season and we still create chances despite our recent lack of goals, we're simply not clinical enough up front and the third midfielder (Barkley/Kovacic) has not really been performing how we need them to as the most attacking midfielder in recent weeks.

It's funny how at the start of the season when we were winning he was the best thing since sliced bread, now we've been struggling recently he's now the problem yet his game hasn't changed.
