That said, if Lampard prefers a sitting DM instead of a Jorgi/Gilmour type player there then I get behind it if he signs an appropriate player, sticking a past his prime box to box player there isn't going to cut it. Brilliant. Well done on arguing against a point I didn't make in that post. I get that Kante is the whipping boy now that his body is starting to break down (in large part due to awful management) but at least wait for a post praising his performance against Bayern before making this post. Well it's a default argument when you're involved because you passionately defended that selection before the City game then walsed round the forum with your dick out after we won the match. Ahh right, the City game which we won and Kante played well in. He didn't play well against Bayern when really he shouldn't have been playing at all. He wasn't fit enough for the final the week before and only played because of a lack of options due to injury and suspensions.

So I feel literally anything upwards of 35m€ should be enough to simply get him off our books. Just not good enough, never was, never will be. killer1257

Would be just enough to write him off the books, freeing up 11.6M€ a year in amortisation and another 6M€/y in wages. Overall 'savings' of almost 18M€ per year and not to mention having extra funds (the 35m€ fee) to pay new transfers with. If Lamps doesn't want him anymore it makes sense to sell him, even at a price little bit lower than his market value. But not sure who in Italy can either afford or need him now that Juve is out of the question.

Hopefully the roma rumors are actually legit.

This is double accounting. If we spent that €35m on recruitment it would bring with it new wages to pay, and a new amortisation to be accounted. I think what @Jype meant was that selling jorginho would firstly give us funds to buy (let's say Declan rice), as well as free up wages and amortization fees.

In these current pandemic times most clubs don't have the cash reserves to buy players because they need to ensure they have enough to cover all running costs (wages etc.) so obviously having an extra 35m€ lying around in the club's bank accounts would make many things easier. Of course all new signings would still go on the books for amortisation and wages and that's where freeing up 18m€ a year from Jorginho would come in handy. BXL70

In this two minutes video you can see how he did very well but Barkley, Giroud and Mount destroyed every possible attack. With Kai, Timo, Puli and Hakim here next season, Jorginho can be essential player again. But I respect also if we go other direction and go for Rice but to sell Jorgi with no players in for this position would be very stupid because he is our best option as DLP. I agree that he lacks athleticism so I would suggest him to do Goretzka.  Fernando

Problem is with him as holding midfielder, we dont have midfield when defending. Our backline is poor and Jorginho is no better. communicate

He isnt that super creative midfielder that will be racking up chances every game, but more of a man before that man. That said, he is realy poor when holding the backline. Any stronger or quicker players just stroll past him on regular basis and break the midfield, that has been the standard for a while now.
