Mason Mount

I do expect Mount to do well at United, but define that phrase ‘to do well’ ie. Nothing spectacular, he will get a few goals, few assists, but ultimately I really think United will fall behind next season unless this ownership battle gets resolved asap and they splash some cash.

Yeah, I think they are having horrendous window. Mount and Onana (close) over 100m. I see zero improvement and apparently this is their whole budget. No CF, no balance in MF with Casemiro, Mount and Bruno. Onana and defense very average.

About Mount I think it will be similar like here.

His last 3 seasons in PL:

20/21 5 non penalty goals. 4 against 3 relegated teams. Only that goal against Liverpool which is his highest point in PL ever.

21/22 10 of 11 goals against 15th or lower. Only goal against higher team is WH and we lost that game.

22/23 just 3 PL goals. Bournemouth 15th place and Aston Villa under Gerrard sharing relegation place at that moment 17/18 place. Since Emery they become different team.

So 2 goals in 3 PL seasons against top14 teams. Horrid stuff. Him being on the pitch 80% of time is pointless.

United fans deluding themselves he is a top player, they gonna find out soon enough.

I'm buzzling this nightmare is finally over and we won't have to entertain this trash another 4-5 years, an average player whom his performances will be replaced fairly easy but I hope we really get a top class player in his position this time.

I don't see why the fan reaction has to be so bitter. It's giving him too much attention and making the move seem bigger than it is. He was never central to our plans.

Because they made a banner for him.  Not like every single Chelsea player gets a banner at the Bridge...

The fact that he ran away at the first opportunity should show every fan just how much he actually 'cared' for the club.

I hope he has a poor season at United, just to see how their fans react 😆

This is bigger than some people want it to be. Mount was an idol for a whole new generation of Chelsea fans. It was Lampard, then Hazard, and then Mount. Him leaving to United is a betrayal and it hurts.

But all in all, I think that it’s best for everyone. Let’s move on, and start building a better team, with players that are comitted to the cause.

Official announcement on Mount. Interesting, but it didn't mention Manchester United at all..

"

Mason Mount has today ended his 18-year association with Chelsea after completing a permanent move away from the club.

The England international started training with the Blues at the age of six and signed as an Under-9. Mount went on to win the FA Youth Cup and the UEFA Youth League before embarking on successful loan spells at Vitesse Arnhem and Derby County.

It was ahead of the 2019/20 campaign that Mount was incorporated into the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge. He became a mainstay of Frank Lampard’s side and made more than 50 appearances in his debut season; a feat no other academy graduate had previously achieved.

Mount went from strength to strength. There were 21 goal contributions the following season and in an FA Cup tie against Luton Town, the academy graduate became the youngest player to captain the side since John Terry.

His 2020/21 campaign ended strongly under Thomas Tuchel. Mount struck in the Champions League quarter-final against Porto, in the semi-final against Real Madrid, and in the final it was his pass that freed Kai Havertz to score Chelsea’s winner.

Mount was named 2021 Player of the Season by supporters. It was an award he retained 12 months later having helped the Blues claim the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, while there were also a further 29 goal contributions during the 2021/22 season.

He made only 35 appearances last term as an injury restricted the midfielder to just three substitute outings after February but he leaves Stamford Bridge having played 195 times and scoring 33 goals for the Blues.

If there was any doubt selling Mase and Kai was a good decision it can now be put to bed. Paul merson the best counter indicator known to men thinks we handed our rivals top4. So we might actually even mount a title challenge now
