yuvala 2,167
We all know Marcos isn't that great at defending.. and I mean he's also not some god going forward. But I really really like him because of his attitude and character. Sideshow Luiz
Jase 43,479
We've won 4-0 in 3 away games this season and Alonso was awful in 2 of them. What's up with that?

Moses on other hand, with his story, for me makes him a bit likable. Slightly ironic because I'd say other supporters are less endeared to him. I think for me atleast its just because he has SOME sort of a character. I love seeing his passion and commitment.. I think its always good to have players with strong characters even when it might not be the "perfect person" sort of personality (I really liked Costa for an example even though many on here didn't). That's not to say Moses doesn't have a character, he might just not show it. ja1

Especially to anybody who has ever lost a loved one because of a drunk driving dickhead.  He shows up with some goals, but liking?Nah. El P. 1,354
And here goes your Marcos Alonso. Without a goal to hide it, he is just a very very average football player. ja1, lucio and Irakozium257

jernej93 569
I really hope he is degraded to bench player as soon as possible ... no more than squad player that can offer something when you are attacking 95% of the game.

Magic Lamps 11,692
Alonso scores goals, that's what he does  a nice slogan if he wasn't a defender. Being good at scoring goals but at nothing else is not even good enough for a striker as we see with Michy. The only way I see Alonso being a really valuable player is If substitution rules got loosened such that you can sub on and off players as often as you want so we could bring him on for every 20-25 yard freekicks central or right to the box and subsequently sub him off again. King11Didier, kellzfresh and ja1
Popular Post! Stats 7,147 Posted January 29, 2018 Popular Post! Share Posted January 29, 2018 He has his flaws and I accept he is not a world beater at LB, but he has been a top signing for us, no too ways about it. Still is very underappreciated for what he has contributed to us. Sideshow Luiz, robsblubot, NiclasCFC and 4 others
ja1 1,166
I think there's weight behind the semi serious theory of playing Alonso as a striker. Critically evaluating him, what's he actually good at. Shooting, getting into goalscoring positions, he's ok aerially, and obviously free kicks. Nearly all traditional aspects of a wingback you want Alonso doesn't have. He can't dribble, he's slow, his crossing is poor, he doesn't progress play, he's shit in one on one duels defensively. I think you'd see a greater impact from Alonso in open play if he was more central hovering about the box in a CF position. He already does that when we're struggling for goals.
