The Conte Thread

This "I don't have the players to challenge for trophies" rethoric seems a little foolish to me. If you are a cook and you need to make a cake, but you do not really have ingredients of the best quality, you still need to try and make that cake. Because it's your duty. Plus, nobody asks Conte to challenge for trophies. We  are desperately hoping for the team to challenge for points and for a top 4 finish.

I understand that he is not happy about the way the board handled the previous two windows, but it is what it is. His duty is to give his best in order to get things going. Is he doing that? I am not sure, but it doesn't seem like it. I don't know what needs to happen. It would be sad to sack him, as he brought a lot of enthusiasm on the Bridge last season, but if he's not willing to make a change and to accept that he can't always get what he wants (specially with the Chelsea board behind), then it's probably better to let go.

The speed in which our fans turn on the manager is appalling. We deserve the shit storm that’s coming our way.

Players don't get free passes because of the past, so why should managers? Conte has done a poor job this season no matter what way it's spun.

We all know he’s going at the end of the season, but do you think Abramovich and the Board might get rid of him before Palace next Saturday? Nothing would surprise me, but who would come in? Ancelotti until the end of the season? Bidding for a 3rd caretaker spell?!

You know things are really when Tomo starts saying things like that...

Yes they do. Torres got a free pass for quite some time only and only thanks to his past. If he was a random no-name he wouldn't have been afforded 4 weeks let alone 4 years.

as sad as it is to say, conte out! He's lost the dressing room, tries to show everyone what a thin squad he has seemingly at all times (we get it conte, it's not ideal) rather than focusing on getting the best results out of his players, he gives off an air of "what can I do? we're fucked anyways because of the board", he's isolated luiz for seemingly no reason (pretty sure luiz' injury isn't the only reason we haven't seen him a while), he handled the Costa situation very poorly, now he's mishandling eden hazad by playing him out of position all the time and subbing him off bizarrely, at the most crucial juncture of our club's relationship with eden.... he needs to go ASAP

Conte is saying he's not being given the dough and it's giving him the kneadle :)

Christ! People still going on about that? Let's just pretend as if Costa hadn't wanted to leave!

Nah he handle it very bad.

Conte is too infuriated.

That was the beginning of his demise.

Nonetheless I would still give him a go next season.

Handled it badly? If Conte had really done that, we would have likely gone off the rails from January onward and lost the title. People often overlook the fact that Conte managed to keep Costa on board and group dynamic good for the last few months of last season. Maybe sending the message to say he's no longer wanted wasn't the best of ideas but even if Conte hadn't done that, there's no guarantee Costa would have stayed on, given how much he wanted to go back to Madrid.

Conte handled the Costa situatiom exactly how he should have, like a boss.

Costa was acting like a child. He got put in his place and instead of acting like a man and taking it on the chin (like Luiz) he sulked until he got his move.

The sad thing is with this club is that it doesn't take much to lose the dressing room. At the first sign of a season going bad the players act like a bunch of girls and start throwing their toys out the pram.

Loads of players have got free passes in the past. We are talking about a manager that pulled us up from midtable to winning the league. Everyone knows he needed some decent investments to build on.
