Sidzeret 2,257
We had a master tactician in charge for that game last season, the real 'Special one' you might say... No wonder we call him the The Special FSW Liquidator
TrippingStep 336
What is worrying is that it seems our midfielders are being burned out way too early. The fact that hey have to make so many runs when we lose the ball because our back line is deep, is what is killing them. They have to run so much to create, and then run some more when we are losing the ball. And our squad is bigger than last year and the schedule much less heavier. That's my main critic about Mourinho, the attacking midfielders are killing themself against the average teams because they have to do too much against these teams.First half against Hull was a blueprint of that, we had the 4 attacking players with no support that had to do everything in attack against 8 sitting players. Only valid till a certain extent as questions also have to be asked on the players' form and/or if they were up for it.

They infact got most of their chances on the counter attack and sat deep. Hazard was totally man marked without any space and I didn't see him at all. Since they sat that deep, we should have put oscar earlier and got at them with the same approach we used at stanford bridge. But you can't deny that our players didn't look up for it, willian and hazard didn't make one dribble all game which is rare. Even silva was bullying ramires and collected the ball from him a lot in that match. That's why I said tiredness was a main cause of that flat performance. 02Feel this excuse of 'tiredness' is being overused as the reason for our last 2 poor results. Only valid till a certain extent as questions also have to be asked on the players' form and/or if they were up for it.Yeah they seemed like they were playing with an attitude of not getting injured or something. They played so slow and no running or dribbles by hazard or willian. Only when oscar came on we had some life but it was too late.I still think it was partly due to tiredness and city was far fresher after having their game called off. In addition to Chelsea using basically the same XI for the 3rd time this week, City had a nice little rest period before Saturday's game. kellzfresh and Barbara

That is true but let's not pretend as if we don't have any decent amount of rest in between ourselves. Not saying we should be expecting great performances from the players in every game but certainly should be performing better than what we did yesterday. NishC300 1,865
They fielded a team a weaker XI yesterday and with a squad like ours we should be rotating and our players shouldn't be tired for such a big game.
BleedsBlue 1,549
Fatigue can not be an excuse for this side. We have the squad depth and quality to rest our key players. Andre and Salah should have started this one as they anyways were not going to play on Wednesday. DYC., Blue Armour and Barbara

It would have been nice to mix things up just to see how City would cope against a different set of players than what they are used to from Chelsea. Instead they just had to deal with same, but more fatigued versions of Eto'o, Hazard and Willian from last week. kellzfresh, Fulham Broadway, Barbara and 1 other

I mean fuck sake, did this geezer even see Lampard play then? 20 plus goals every season, we can't even get a striker to do that these days.. Some proper mongs about. BloodIsBlue 291
Had Mourinho played any other squad just because of fitness we would have still lost. Any one of you that had the idea going into that game that we were favorites and were guaranteed a win were very deluded. This Man City squad is one of the best Prem teams I've seen in a long time. Had Azpi or Cech blocked that opening goal the game might of went differently but I would have never bet money on our Chelsea to win that sorry guys. They're better than use, doesn't mean we can't beat City, but the conditions are not in our favor in terms of team quality, fitness, depth and preparation time. Our dept is an illusion; we are 1 big Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Ramires or Azpi injury away from a disaster. We could have tried those fresher players but the result would have been the same in my opinion. Mourinho put out that squad using his 4321 strategy because he respected this City team and the tournament, that was the best shot we had at progressing in the FA cup. I stand behind Mourinho on that game until the substitutes. To see David Luiz as a centerback, and Mikel and Torres on at the same time against city made me cry. Mohammed Seif 1,451
I think we lost simply because City and Yaya Toure dominated the midfield. Our players were pretty much isolated. Surely some of the players were fatigued but that was not the main reason. I have faith in Mourinho, he is a one cunning fox. He will definitely find a way to bounce back against Everton.
