why i use great is that, if jose aint great, then no other manager is great

what about the older managers (began coaching before José) who are considered great?

Examples: Jupp Henckyes, Hiddink

Jose is great...but there are other managers who are also great.

You can go on about the team needing time to gel and stuff but a loss to a side like Basel in such an embarrassing way is not acceptable at all. Even at our lowest of lows we should manage to beat them, even if it means relying on a moment of genuine class from one of our players (which the likes of Hazard and Oscar should be capable of).

A side like Basel? They put on a better performance than anyone in the PL would 90% of the time. There is absolutely no shame in loosing to a side that played as well as Basel did yesterday. Very disappointing, but not at all embarrassing.

As I explain above. Greatness is too strong of a word to be used for Jose, in my opinion.

Better than good, perhaps ? Jose was fortunate to come to Chelsea when Roman took over & spent millions. Jose acquired a reputation of a winning coach. Then he proved it in Italy, but partially failed at Real. Success has been very generous to him, but as I said moneybag owners came by & suddenly Jose has a real challenge ahead of him.

Basel´s performance was due to Chelsea´s lack of one. Nothing special. Just a team waiting what will happen. Chelsea were lackluster & Swiss cheeses pounce on it.

This is why I thought Mourinho would have fitted better at CIty.

They got a build team already and that team is a very psychical side just like his old Chelsea.

And we should have gotten someone like Pellegrini as our team is young in construction and needed of a philosophy. A philosophy that is that of an attacking coach, something Roman wants.

At this point I'm not sure what we will get.

I'm actually worried that Mourinho counter attacking mentality is not suited for the players we got. A good manager is supposed to bring the best out of your players and Mata our best players for the last two season is now total useless.......

Completely disagree. Basel in the first half were nothing short of brilliant. They kept their shape, defending incredibly well and didn't put a foot in wrong. In the second half they had go forward and leave spaces at the back and they made the most of their chances unlike us. Fair play to them for trying to get the second goal after the equalizer instead of just sitting back to defend a point.

That happens when you win stuff.

Just like posting nonsensical drivel might get a person a reputation as a bit thick.

Support and patience from the proper supporters.

We're a young team in the process of being built. City lost away to Cardiff despite being a 'build team'. It's going to be painful at times but supporting a football team isn't all about glory and gloating to your mates. It's hard at times, something that a lot of people probably aren't aware of because for the last 20 years we've been on an upwards trajectory.

We have one of the best coaches in the world. People need to stop expecting miracles overnight.

And people don't need to paint Basel as this amazing side who did anything remotely special. They just new their jobs. Our players are still learning their roles and mistakes will happen. With practice and time the execution of these ideas should improve, but it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Anyone not prepared for that might as well jump off now.

Basel knew their roles and played as a cohesive unit as did Everton.

Yes it will be a rollercoaster for a while and ignoring specific issues with the formation, players and manager (and there are several), we are where we deserve to be because of shoddy planning at more senior levels.

Lack of a cohesive management structure, lack of a cohesive player recruitment structure, lack of a cohesive player progression structure (youth -> first team

In Jose we trust..

As I see, your relentless trolling here should be reported & as you wrote your clueless pm to yesterday, I now openly call for you, do not ever respond to me !

You miss the point!

I'm talking about the philosophy we are trying to put into this young squad. It should be an attacking approach, what Roman wants.

I'm not sure if Mourinho is the man for that job.

He's counter attacking instincts might not be the best for players like Mata.

In Mourinho's first season with chelsea, while results were good, Mourinho's first few games established a narrative that would persist to this very day. Slow, strong, compact, tight - boring, boring Chelsea we were. José's first nine league matches in charge saw four 1-0 victories, two 0-0 draws, a 2-0, a 2-1, and finally a surprise defeat (the one and only league defeat that season) away to a pre-riches Manchester city. Lots of points but really not much inspiration.
But right now in mourinho's 2nd spell with chelsea, Ignoring the Champions League for a moment and if you squint a little bit, this year's results mirror that season's semi-closely so far. We've had a 2-0 and a 2-1 already, followed by a 0-0 and that classic 1-0 away shock defeat.

Patience, it took 9 league matches in his first season for us to finally become superb. Patience

And not to mention, the attacking trio behind the ST have been constantly changing.

vs Hull - Hazard/Oscar/De Bruyne

vs Villa - Hazard/Oscar/Mata

vs Man Utd - Hazard/Oscar/De Bruyne

vs Bayern - Hazard/Oscar/Schurrle

vs Everton - Hazard/Mata/Schurrle

vs Basel - Hazard/Oscar/Willian

Funny because the only time the team was clicking was under the first trio...
