The Mourinho Thread

You say that, but look are Martial at United. They're having a right go at Van Gaal for relying on a 19-year old for goals. If Lukaku hadn't started scoring quickly and frequently, we would've seen a similar effect. As Tomo said, most of the mentioned players have only stepped up this season.

Looking at Martial now (great playr just not yet) gives an insight to what we would have looked like if we pinned our hopes on Lukaku in 13/14 instead of signing Eto'o.

Our attacking mids were really young at the time, Lukaku up front would have made a ridicolously inexpierenced front line and Hazard touched on how Eto'o helped his development and I can imagine it was similar for the others.

Plus as soon as Etoo got up to speed he was class (and wasn't even as bad as made out before even) so he wasn't just there solely to guide the young AMs.

The only sold player really spoke about last season was KDB, the rest have only really cropped up this season.

I think we did, there were always been discussion on the Lukakus, the Matas, the KDB and the others (If not, my apologies because i think everyone did had a good discussion even last yr) ... As i said, when the going is bad we tend to take a trip down memory lane more than ever...

From a manager we expect vision and from someone like Jose we expect more because he is among the elite or among the best if not the best ... If any players who has been left go off, goes out and does well ... the blame is bound to come back on the manager and specially with the situation that we are in, the manager is going to be part of the blame game ...

There was the odd discussion about them, but aside from KDB there was none of the "why did we sell them", and if Costa hits form again the Lukaku thread will go quiet again, especially if it conincides with Romelu dipping inform himself.

First things first, I didn't mention everyone that wants Mourinho gone. There are some quality posters on this forum (Muzchap is one that springs to mind) that have put forth some compelling reasons for him going so this isn't a comment on the people wanting Mourinho gone.

My problem is with 2 things - the disrespect shown by people to him by calling him names like turd when he has led the club to 3 of the 5 titles we've ever won. But the other is the main one and that is the enjoyment people gain from.when things go wrong. When we win and play good football very few people say a thing on this forum. The post match threads are silent, no one complimenting the players or the manager or anything. One loss and the whole thing explodes with people laying into the players, the manager and the fans. Then the people that dare say something nice or positive and not just knee jerk with rage after a defeat get shouted down by "told you so" merchants who take so much joy in being right about things going badly wrong you can almost hear their laughs as they bash away at their keyboard.

Now please note that this isn't a comment towards you, I have no idea what kind of poster you are as I haven't seen any of your posts as I've not been around recently due to aforementioned reasons, this is due to you replying and I think misconstruing what I meant.

Cheers dude :)

I hate wanting him gone - but see no other option - it's either him or 10 new players.

I still maintain here's here until the summer - despite what I might think - the only thing that could trigger Romans itchy finger is if we do 'actually' drop into the relegation zone for a period of time.

The game against Sunderland is a 6 pointer must win.

The trouble is, Mourinho is a problem, but I'm not sure Ancelotti is the answer? Maybe I'm doing Ancelotti a disservice, he probably would have us near the top of the table, but my dreams of a dynasty and Chelsea owning the PL are in tatters. I also think Ancelottis is a short term manager, I dunno, maybe long term guys just don't exist anymore?

Whoever comes in needs to lift the team, focus on slick football and embed some youth

I REALLY loved Ranieri's interview last night - the players are well drilled, they all fight for each other and know instinctively where their counterpart will be on the pitch - I miss that in our team so much!!!

Then in true RANIERI fashion he talks about 'electricity' - genius - the thought of his players running on electricity :)

I also loved that he still likes Chelsea and said his team! Classy bloke! Let's not forget he made some amazing signings and he really defined the core nucleus of Chelsea. A manager that can get Albrighton performing and Vardy scoring regularly is a great manager indeed, he's like Martin O'Neil - takes an average player and turns them into world beaters. The 'midas' touch.

For me MOURINHO seems to have the 'reverse Midas touch' every player turns to shit - lol :)

I dunno what the future holds, but I can't wait to see us playing like that and with a smile on our faces again. That will be a good day and all of us should never get complacent with 'winning' again :)

lukaku was 21 last season. he was already a verygood striker. he needed trust instead of being no.4 behind etoo, torres and schurlle.

and lets talk about bertrand. a perfect homegrown player to replace an already over the bridge ash. and now match after match we cry about a LB.

i was not a fan of luis, but god fucking damn it. if you want to keep just 6 proper defenders, atleast have the fucking brains to keep 6 PROPER defenders.

Right, and if a new manager pulls an AVB and drops 3-4 players from the XI, pisses them off, and tries formations they don't like we'll be near the relegation zone AND have a squad of players in revolt.

It can certainly get worse then it is now. Don't think we're at rock bottom yet.

so our players will freak out, if told to play 3 in the middle, or 2 up top? doubt it, it actually suits all 4 of our cm's

'All last season I did a phenomenal work and I brought them to a level that is not their level, more than they really are'

or

'this season we are doing so bad that the players for some reasons (...), clearly for some of them it's so difficult'

When it's good, it's 'I, Jose Mourinho' when it's bad, it's 'we... i.e. the players'. This quotation sums him perfectly. It should bring discredit upon his reputation (but it won't). 'One of us' my ass.

Yup, quite a few posts about that but none so eloquent as this.

That's the problem - a leader puts himself on the line, even if you don't like them, you can respect them.

I think a lot our players neither like, nor respect Jose. Before anyone complains, he has only himself to blame for this.

And that is the question. He was never the man to bring stability and last for years, because he doesn't have a track record to prove it. We brought him, and put faith into his plan, and now the idea is to pull out cause things cannot be any worse. I guess it really isn;t about building a new team, it's about just updating it. When we failed to do so this year, it's going to force us to overhaul. Overhaul or sack him, and once you sack him who do we go to? Because if the idea is for the next manager to step up to the plate and provide a long term vision with stability then we're going down the same path once again.

We need to get past the stage of letting a manager dictate the future and philosophy of the club. That needs to be set at a higher level.
