Netherlands World Cup '74 and '78, Brazil World Cup '82, Eusebio's Benfica (in Europe) come to mind. I'm not much of a football historian though.

Personally, I will always remember Jorge Jesus' Benfica, even though they've been quite 'unfortunate' in Europe. Same for Villarreal CL 05/06, Bayern 11/12, Dortmund 12/13, Argentina & Ghana World Cup 2006, Netherlands Euro 2008, Chili World Cup 2010 just to quickly name a few losers.

Ancelotti was given an ageing squad, but yet managed to produce the best football of any manager in the Abramovich era and win the league and cup double. Abramovich and the board didn't rejuvenate the squad in his second season and it cost us. Instead Torres was forced down his throat.

Those two things are the greatest myths in football history.

The best football we played under Roman was in fact under Scolari, under Carlo our squad was so strong that we trashed teams without necessarily playing beautiful, we were excellent but not "beautiful as you want to describe it", we were just scoring way too much for everyone.

Under Scolari we were playing "beautiful" football yeah.

But the best football we've played in my opinion is the one which suits all kind of opposition, allows us to face anyone with the weapons we need, and this is wat we're doing atm.

And no one's ever gonna convince me that Ancelloti said "no don't give the best striker in the world Roman, no thanks"

Anyway, I'm predicting a proper thrashing of Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Also, after we seal the title, we will surely play way more attacking football against Liverpool, that game is going to be one to watch, especially if we put in guys like RLC, Luis, Zouma.

"Unfortunately looks like we'll have to change the thread title here."

"his tactics yesterday was cowardly. he has the audacity to call us boring. In between chelsea's 1st and second title, there was one princess called Diana who born and died in freak accident. two generations have passed by." ??

"Chelsea is a world class bodybuilder with a 1 inch cock and a pair of pea sized balls."

"

It's grating how he takes a pop at our club, manager and history every chance he gets. Last season Arsene was a specialist in failure and this season 10 years without a league title is boring.

If 10 years without a title is boring, what about 50 years? Because that's how long Chelsea 'fans' had to wait before Abramovic's billions came into play.

It's difficult to figure out who I hate more, Chelsea or Mourinho.

He's just taking the piss and throwing out bait to get attention. It's amazing to me how people can still get riled up about the comments he make. It's so obvious that he's just doing it to keep the focus on him instead of his team, and people bite again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again.

To the point where the guy even has is own thread on an Arsenal board, so it's clearly working."

"New Karma is a bitch.

Mourinho will get his comeuppance, whether it's on or off the pitch.

Not holding my breath on the English media calling this disrespectful, odious **** out any time soon."

Listening to media saying how adaptive we are, i had a thought.....

well more of a dream team to be honest, it would be the greatest team of chelsea's history, really more fun to think about than expect to happen!

But, could you imagine Jose building a team which could play in a similar way to all of his great teams?

the machine like efficiency an direct ruthlessness of his chelsea 2004-06

the unbeatable defence of Inter with a midfield of counter attacking prowess.

the glitz and aesthetic of his madrid title winning team.

Thing is, im not so sure you have to really sacrifice one for the other (within reason)?

i think your defence needs to be able to play both deep and high pressing?

your midfield needs to be athletic and powerful (chelsea midfield) have the defensive screening of cambiasso (matic?) and have someone to control possession and be good at starting counterattacks (dont think thats cesc, but i do think Koke)

Hazard gives the spark, the magic in attack. Costa can be dynamite and ignite a game that much more through confrontation, but we need another attacking theat. i think we need a winger/striker. someone who can play the role malouda/anelka did for us, etoo did for inter and ronaldo for madrid. ?

such a team would win the league three times in a row ;)

very unlikely to happen though, i think we'd still have to redo at least half the team?

what would be your dream mourinho team?

Your memory is insane, I can barely remember a match from 2 weeks ago...

Butch Wilkins has confirmed that it was Carlo, not Roman, who instigated the Torres deal. I see no reason to call Butch a liar, so Carlo is the man to blame for that £100m disaster.

Torres was never the greatest striker in the world by the way. Had I been the owner and Carlo walked in telling me he wanted to spend £100m on Torres, I'd have sacked him on the spot and tried to find someone who put more effort into their work. I refuse to believe that Carlo would have failed to notice how poor Torres was if he'd actually watched him as carefully as would have been required to justify such a huge deal. I'd have had to conclude therefore that Carlo was being lazy and had not done his homework so I'd have sacked him. I'm serious.
