Seen people saying De Gea is now a PL great, think they are hugely overstepping the mark a bit because as good as he currently is hes not been as successful, only won 7 trophies where as Cech has won 18. Schmeichel has 15... Surely being successful and a great player has to make the decision regarding these things.

Anyway back onto Cech, fantastic career. Absolutely top pro. Hopefully he goes into coaching, a very smart man who has plenty to offer, maybe here in some capacity?

Phenomenal goalkeeper who dedicated the best years of his career to this club and never complained when Courtois eventually came in.

I think it has always been understated also how well he came back from what was a life threatening injury to continue his career at the absolute highest level for a number of years continuing to have to show the bravery and character of a top keeper.

Like Drogba, his Chelsea career will forever be highlighted by Munich. Drogba got most of the plaudits but Cech saved Robben's penalty in extra time and two in the shootout (definitely tipped Schweinsteigers pen on to the post) - couldn't have asked for much more against a German team in a shootout! 

A huge Chelsea legend, regardless of his last couple of years at Arsenal, and I wish him all the best in his retirement.

Just think if we hadn't signed the "hook nosed cunt"| Petr would still be between the sticks for us and we would never of had a keeper problem.

Well done to Mourinho for playing him over Carlo. That was a big call at the time. Proved to be the correct one, but maybe not for Courtois being preferred over him later

Should also remember that Cech went the right way for all SIX penalties!

De Gea is a great stopper but lacks too much in other areas to be considered at the level of Cech or Schmeichel.

Come on now, Cech's a legend but Courtois was the much better keeper by the time he returned from Atletico, that decision was more than justified.

Not enough words to describe this gem of a player and human being, consumate professional and gentleman, a role model for any young GK willing to make it at the top. He will be forever immortalized at this club, without him there wouldn't have been a Champions League win for Chelsea and not just that, but the other countless trophies he has helped this club win, not even after that horrible injury vs Reading did he quit, he cameback stronger like a bang. We will all be forever indebted to him alongside other Chelsea greats, thank you for everything Big Pete, KTBFFH always

It was super nice to have this little connection to the Czech Republic (it actually happened a few times during my time in England that people thanked me for Petr Cech ) and it is fair to say that he brought a lot, a lot of new Czech fans to SW6.

He is a class goalkeeper and an even classier man.

His save against Carroll in the FA Cup final too was a match winner and one of the greatest saves I've ever seen in a game of that level of importance and magnitude. He had no right to keep that one out.
