Mattia Destro

So, if Torres' massive wages go off the books and with the £28m we still have from Lukaku why not set r sights a bit higher than Destro? I'm sure we still have money left over from the other sales as well.

José has openly talked about using a 2 striker lineup on multiple occasions so why not try to bring in a top drawer player? We could probably afford Cavani pretty easily and he and Costa could both play together frequently. Even if not, we'll be playing so many games this season like we always do and he'd start plenty.

According to reports, Cavani earns about 7 times as much as Destro and would cost about double. In a team that plays a mostly one striker system, two marquee players are hard to accommodate both on the pitch and in the books.

Yeah but for 25m we could make a serious bid for Bony already....Roma will rip us if they sell us Destro for anything above 20m eur, they sold Benatia for peanuts who is one of best in his position. Destro isnt even complete striker to begin with.

Decent player, but I don't think he is the right type of CF for us.

Haven't really seen him play much, only a few games here and there and can't remember how he performed but from a few youtube videos he looks to have decent hold up play and seems quite strong. I think he would fit in here, granted my views are just from youtube vids so it really means very little.

He is a player who isn't very consistent, and not very physical. Our type of play needs a strong CF like DD or Costa.

Cavani is who we all really want (very unlikely to happen).

Nah, don't think Cavani would fit us well. We are currently playing in systems with mainly 1 striker. If we buy Cavani we need to switch to 4-4-2, since neither Costa or Cavani would like to be on the bench. Cavani will also cost a lot, £50M at least with maybe the same wages as Torres.

In DD we have the perfect 3rd striker who is still a monster in the air and a great targetman to come on late in the game. In Costa we have a complete striker. Now we need a poacher-type for goals and Destro seems fine in finishing, still young (23 versus 27 Cavani) and if he wants to be the 2nd striker, he's welcome.

Mou also knows him from the youth at Inter Milan when he was the trainer there. So Mou must know him well and in Mou we trust.

I would personally prefer to get a proven goalscorer. I get your point about Cavani not fitting in your system, but he knows how to score. We went down the youth route (Lukaku, Sturridge), and it didn't really work.

Either way, Mourinho will make the best choice for the team.
