While I can understand sarcasm I'm baffled with comments that he wouldn't succeed in England or that 200m is too much.

Just for the sheer popularity we would get and with how much marketing value Leo has, it's well worth it.

Don't forget Adidas wants him also and since we are among their best partners, they would pay the part of his transfer too. If they could strap a Adidas blue shirt on Leo and with white Adidas shirt on Ronaldo, they would pull a major mindfuck on Nike. Two of the best football player sponsored by Adidas with also Hazard and Fabregas in the pack.

I do doubt that there is much truth to those rumors but I really like them, having Chelsea associated with Leo is a great marketing plus. You people wouldn't believe how much people dig even the crappiest rumors sometimes. Just go and see twitter xD

I do think he would succeed in our club and would take PL by storm. Trio of Messi, Hazard and Costa would probably surpass Ronaldo, Benzema and Bale in a split second.

I think we've all seen that you can never say never in football.

Adidas have better relations with Bayern and Messi has a better relationship with Guardiola.

Why not. Maybe Messi is aware that Barcelona's best days are behind and that they aren't going to get better. They will struggle to replace Xavi and Iniesta (in a sense Fabregas/Hazard is the new Xavi/Iniesta) and Chelsea has a better future than Barcelona.

No, but he's one player you can excuse.

you may be right... Sounds like an expensive compensation though. We'd have to likely get another ball winner in the midfield who can keep the ball, use it and win a high percentage of tackles to go next to Matic... Maybe Khedira but then there's no room for Cesc...

It just doesn't fit with anything we're trying to do unfortunately.

Why the fuck do we need messi for? He is going to be 28/29 before he would come here and I wouldnt pay 200m for player of this age, no matter what.

Why cant we stick to Hazard and have our own legend instead of going after barca one?

Same reason with why we want to sign Reus for... on the right wing

Reus would cost 25m. Messi would cost 200m and we would probably have to sell at least Hazard. Also I dont think Messi would come here to play Rw, do the hard work, track back and feed balls to Costa.

I seriously hope we dont spend money on Messi, but invest it in good CB, Rw and back up striker after Drogba goes.

If the rumour true that Adidas will want to pay 70% of his transfer, we will only pay around 60m. It is a good deal imo. Also he could play as a striker if necessary.

Agree though if we have to pay 200m from our own pocket, better spent it for 3 or 4 players.

I dont buy into this adidas rumour, but if true, then ok.

Just read this Messi's achievement so far on another site, I don't know but I find I am laughing a lot while reading all of it. Maybe it is just weird of me though.

I don't believe any of this. Would be funny to see Messi in the PL to be honest, but I don't know if I'd want him to join us even though he's definitely one of the best footballers in the world. It is impossible to even think him wearing a Chelsea shirt let alone thinking of him playing in our new system.
