We do not play like we played at the start of the season and we can only put that down to Jose not liking the amount of goals we conceded so whilst the team has creative and attacking movements it's a ton more compact now, diego is most of the time left isolated and pointing where he wants it, doesn't grt it, comes deep and tries to bulldoze through.

Tactics and team play needs to have more freedom imo

It seems silly to say this for a player who's missed two straightforward finishes (for his standards), but I thought he had an excellent game, his best performance in weeks. Proper centre forward shift - battled for everything, every ball played up to him stuck and even had a role in the 2nd goal with the run that opened space up for Fabregas.

Exactly what I'm talking about when I say his link up play is shit. As I said before his hold up play is excellent but he's terrible at combination football. That's simply something he has to improve on as Cesc, Hazard and Oscar all thrive on 1 touch play.

No idea why people are up in arms whenever you criticize Diego btw. Hazard, Cesc, Oscar, Willian etc all receive criticism, Costa shouldn't be exempt from it either.

His combination play is not terrible but still I don't even care if hes not quite on the same level as Cesc, Hazard and Oscar in terms of 1-2s and combination play. He's a striker, let him do his job which is fucking sticking the ball in the back of the net, run the channels, win fouls and when he can wind some opposition players up in the process (not his job but he does it anyway). I've not seen very many people mention how many fouls he wins from long balls, where he should be second best to it but he gets there beats the man and draws fouls like he did at Atletico. We've been crying out for a striker who plays like its life or death and scores 20+ goals a season for years now, I mean people seem to forget we had to put up with Torres for about 3 and a half years but still 'he's not good enough at one twos and combination play'? What the fuck.

We have it very good, top of the league at Christmas, Diego has scored 12 goals so far, Cesc has been the best MF player in Europe in terms of assists and Matic is performing out of his skin most games with absolutely huge performances but yet still people want to complain.

Wow, you have high standards. He's just working back from a spell on the sidelines and is not playing 90 mins all the time like at the beginning. Still adjusting to the league (and the league's adjusting to him). This Christmas schedule is a novelty to him and he's still turned in two excellent performances vs Stoke and West Ham.

He's back in form the past 2 games. The ball sticks with him now and he never loses it easily like before. His passing is also on point, quick layoffs and all around smart play.

Desperation about scoring really affected his game the last month, but good to see him playing well now.

His goal today was instrumental, when we needed it the most and all on him. Amazing play, superb finishing from a player that has been vital for us the whole season and who's handled it as if he's been playing in England from birth. He gave much more in terms of goals than we should have expected, but for some geniuses he's not good enough.
