Fabregas 16th assist. Another from a setpiece. Stoke couldn't park the bus after that.

He and Matic are our master players. If costa gets his goalscoring form back, we'll be smashing teams like early in the season.

Yup and 12 in the Premier League this season. Just need 9 more to break Henry's record. Should have been only 8 had Costa converted his chance in the first half.

New year is coming, lets hope he banishes that 'bottler' tag once and for all. Anything less than another 10 assists by the end of the season would be unacceptable.

Just to put things in perspective:

Cesc has 12 assists now in the PL.

Our next assister - Oscar - has 5.

Eden has 3.

Willian has 1.

And that's considering they're playing on more attacking positions. Demanding 10 more assists only from Fabregas is a bit unfair: we must demand the same from Oscar, Eden and Willian, then(especially from Willian - his productivity is incredibly poor for an AM). Though with Costa's losing his scoring boots it's getting harder to get assists, especially when you play a CM. The Costa from the beginning of the season would have converted Fabregas's through ball yesterday. Let's hope Diego finds his scoring boots soon. Fabregas must break Henry's assists record.

A bit unfair? You're being kind, it's madness that's what it is. "Anything less than 10 assists is unacceptable..." boy sit down.

I don't think he'd have been this effective at Arsenal. Mourinho was smart enough to put him right in the middle of the park with Matic, knowing Wenger he would've put him in the number 10 role and have Ozil & Ramsey getting confused about everyone's positions lmao

No you both misunderstood me, I am in no way criticizing his contribution so far, I think it is amazing and even if he doesn't add any more goals or assists by the end of the season he can be seen as a success. What it will do however is continues that myth of him being a bottler and burn out by the 2nd half of the season and I don't want that.

Yeah, I get it. He raised expectations too much and if he does any less in the second half, it will be considered poor, however unfair it is.

He should have made a couple of assists in the first half of the season, like our AMs, and then no one could have said his form dips in the second.

Fabregas is THE PLAYER in this team. Yesterday in a normal game (he was far from brilliant) he did 1 assist, scored one goal, had another great oportunity to score and did a perfect pass for Costa. Worked like hell and did other great passes.

In another world when compared to almost any other player in this team.

Tbf he is one of the best around and with 10+ assists no matter what for him this season is a success, just like with Costa just a few mores and reaching 20 goals mean he will be a success even if he goes on a Torres style 20 games without a goal before the end of the season. What it won't do however if promote them to that 'top top top level' that people will go wow he is the best striker/midfielder in the world this year definitely. Think of Falcao 30+ goals a few years ago, Messi and Ronaldo yearly, Suarez last season...etc. They could have stopped at around 20-25 goals but by getting those 30+ numbers they are considered undisputed no1 by the end of that season and not just one of the best...

I think he is capable of pushing himself to those levels, not a must but it would be good for him and us,

Sam Allardyce
"I remember Jose punching the air at Soccer Aid while we were training before we played that game. I didn't know what it was until after, when he told me he had just clinched it [the signing of Fabregas]. That's how excited he was and what a big signing had finally come off. Jose had obviously met him before that and Cesc was pondering his decision as to whether to join Chelsea, so I could see how delighted he was to clinch that signing. They obviously had to do a lot of work, when you consider the affection he said he had for Arsenal, and they managed to overcome that. It's paid off for both. There are only a few players of that high a quality and calibre available on the market today and that was one they clinched, so he has done very, very well in assists and scored a couple of vital goals."
