Everton's John Stones to appeal directly to chairman Kenwright to let him leave

John Stones will appeal directly to Everton chairman Bill Kenwright to let him leave Goodison Park and join Jose Mourinho at Chelsea this week, write Alan Oliver and Steve Bates in the Sunday People.

Toffees manager Roberto Martinez is insisting that the defender will not be allowed to go - even if he slaps in a transfer request.

Chelsea have made three bids for centre-back Stones - the last one of £30million - which have all been turned down.

But Mourinho is so keen to sign the 21-year-old England international, Chelsea will make one final bid of £36m. They are expecting that, with Stones' desire to go to Stamford Bridge, will be enough to seal the deal.

Stones will officially ask to leave and take his request to join Chelsea to the board, who will find it difficult to block.

Kenwright is Everton through and through, but deep down he would accept a British record deal for a young defender they signed from Barnsley for a mere £3m is really great business.

People Sport revealed last Sunday that Barnsley are entitled to a 15 per cent sell on clause, meaning Everton, to bank a clear £30m from the deal, will have to demand around £36m from Chelsea.

Agent Stones: We need you to play well today, not a MOTM type performance because that will make Everton squeeze us for a couple more million, or really refuse to sell. And we all don't want that now do we? But don't play noticeably poor because half of TC will then not want you here, and you'll need to do a lot of convincing.

P.S. It would help your future employer if you happen to get any points from this match. You've been briefed.

1. We can afford an extra couple millions.

2. Who gives a shit about the keyboard warriors on TC?
