hjperdeath 2,226
The thing is if we really want a stop gap then why not promote from within?Chalobah I am confident can help us out and Ake did not look out of place in the EPL or Europa league last season. Why not give them a chance? Is it really neccessary to spend 15m on a player who will be nothing but a mere stop gap?I know promoting from within is risky but at the same time it is very exciting and who knows the enthusiasm that the club trained player will show might rub off on the other players as well. After all this is a transitional season according to Jose. That is what I really want to happen. Them or maybe even RLC. But I don't think the club will do it, cause we clearly never had the balls to. Maybe in the next few games but one can only hope for it. CHOULO19 24,332
Didn't someone bring up a stop gap point here before? Get him as cover for now until the season is over. I really don't see much point in over-paying for any world-class midfielder in January. Get Guarin , rotate him with the squad and get through until the end of it unless you want to go for a risky option and get a world-class CM.An 18m stop-gap? Plus, the last stop-gap we got isn't really working too well right now. If a stop-gap is what we want, give Chalobah or Josh a chance. Or even Ake who has already fllled in as a stop gap last season and did pretty well.
Mufassir08 2,400
Who?Gundogan? Witsel? Pogba? Two of those players are scheduled to play one another in the next round so it's unlikely we'll get them for a competitive price. Guarin might just be the best available option that fits our budget. For starters I would leave the midfield problem for the summer when True world class players are available and promote someone into the side for a squad role till then. However if we must sign a midfielder then I would want someone with playmaking ability like Rakitic. The only place to be 11,313
Well from the EPL alone, I'd much rather someone like Schnielderline, Cabaye, Morrison..etc off the top of my head. All would not go for more than the rumored 18m and all would be dying to make a switch to a team like Chelsea.Cabaye has been quoted at about £20 million and is also wanted by PSG - enjoy a bidding war with them. This is leaving the problem until summer. Unfortunately we have a few matches between now and then.We need a midfielder and this guy could do a job for what is a relatively low fee. He's also free to play in the CL and probably close to his true market value and not the January panic-price.

Do they have plans to? If they don't then get him to keep ourselves safe until summer.

To me the difference is the same as between having Torres and Ba or Torres, Ba and Eto'o i.e. not much at all.

Guarin on loan would have been perfect tbh but I wouldn't mind a transfer because Essien is surely leaving in the summer and Lampard is ageing. Guarin could be useful for another year atleastPretty random question btw, anyone know how's his English?
Mufassir08 2,400
Rami, Guarin, Lamps, Chalobah would be good too. Yeah but you and I both know that Mikel and Essien are going nowhere atleast until the summer.
Madmax 9,219
Rami, Guarin, Lamps, Chalobah would be good too. +1This needs to happen. Kid's being wasted at Forest and we need more bodies in midfield.

Financially it's not a massive commitment when you look at the possibility of getting those two off the books and possibly a transfer fee for Mikel. bushman 2,043
If I were Jose, I´d buy every available midfielder in January. That way, one may work out ?

He'd kill himself to get a move to a club like Chelsea. What about the other two I mentioned? What about someone like Ki who has been fantastic this season? What about some other CMs from the Serie A who are also not cup-tied (although I don't imagine that is something of great importance to Jose and the Chelsea board as the main concern is the league)? Players like Pjanic? Ilicic? If we want to do business with Inter then why not get their best CM and one of the most promising young play makers in Europe: Kovasic. I'm sure you'll find the Inter fans reaction to be much stronger if we are linked with him instead of Guarin.

Slowly, not too sure about surely. I like him but it remains to be seen how he does here although he deserves a chance (probably).Ultimately Guarin will have re-sale value whatever happens of at least £4-6 million. Mikel goes for £7-10 million and you've recouped that money. There's not much downside to this deal and quite a lot of upside when you look at this guys physical and technical tools. The question is whether Mourinho can get the best out of him in the short-term.'m sure you'll find the Inter fans reaction to be much stronger if we are linked with him instead of Guarin. And the Chelsea fans response would be much stronger if we were to sell Chalobah than Mikel. We have young players who can't get a game with us - we don't need to sign one from Inter, despite him being a promising player. He's one for the summer if anything.
