Morgan Schneiderlin

I believe the rumours are true and indeed Chelsea is interested in bringing him here, but only if Jose misses on his main targets. I think the plan is to flog Oscar for something like 35-40m and then reinvest the money into someone like Pogba or Koke. If Chelsea can't struck a deal for one of these two then Jose will probably reconsider his options, sign Schneiderlin for 20-25m, pair him with Matic, move Cesc further up the pitch and then move on to his next targets such as a new centre back and maybe a right winger.

The problem is that He will not just sit there and wait for Chelsea´s offer. IMO, If Arsenal bids first, he will accept, as long as Southampton agree a fee.

Also, he might not risk a move to Chelsea one year from the EC(which will be held in his home country). Arsenal really need a player like him, he won't be dropped there for sure. At Chelsea, anything can happen and players might be afraid to join us.

CHELSEA will reportedly offer John Obi Mikel to Southampton as part of a deal to secure the signing of Morgan Schneiderlin.

Arsenal are said to be keen on snapping up the french midfielder in the summer, and so Chelsea may be forced to sweeten the deal.

The Sun claim that Arsenal are currently the front-runners in the race for the 25-year-old's signature

However, a swap-deal with the Blues for Nigerian international John Obi Mikel could be of benefit to Ronald Koeman.

The 27-year-old, who joined Chelsea in 2006, has made 329 appearances for the club and has vital Premier League experience.

Plus the defensive midfielder would plug the gap of the departing Schneiderlin perfectly, whilst also freeing-up funds to be spent elsewhere in the squad.

hope this transfer rumour is true so we can finally see the back of mikel

Is that the case? Knee injuries scare me. Like falcao for example, very different from the dude that scored 3 against us.

Yeah , its minor ,just because the season is almost done, season ending injury is misleading at this point. I wouldn't have any concerns with his fitness .

We need a marquee player in midfield who can put us on the level of Barcelona, Madrid and Bayern. Schneiderlin isn't going to cut it, and I'll be really disappointed if we get him.

We have to be in for him as well surely. Schneiderlin should be the absolute minimum level we should add to the midfield, anything below (e.g. Song) and really will be a disappointing transfer window.

Which CM is above Schneiderlin that we could buy? except Pogba.

I don't think we need Schneiderlin. Yes, he is a quality player but we don't need him and Matic starting every game because primarily it will be Matic-Fabregas and a no.10. It seems a bit too defensive as well. He would be an excellent option to play alongside Matic in tough away games and so on but not really worth spending over £20m on. That is why I prefer to have Song who is cheaper and home-grown and that is why I doubt Mourinho is considering this deal and probably looking for a cheaper alternative. Especially if we convince Mikel to stay, there is no real need to spend over £20m on Schneiderlin.

I agree. when we're playing Cesc-Matic for most games, £20m-£25m for another CM is a lot and i dont think Schneiderlin is that good for this price. Kondogbia was also too expensive.

But can we expect a good enough improvement from Song-Matic-Cesc over Ramires-Matic-Cesc?

There are also cheaper options like Allan, Imbula (off to Inter for a loan and a forced option in 18m Euros), maybe Witsel. It doesnt look like we're going for any of them.

Yes imo because Song is a much better defensively than Ramires and is better at holding the ball, dictating play and general passing. Ramires is good and I want him here but in terms of defensive solidarity, Song-Matic-Fabregas is much stronger than Ramires-Matic-Fabregas. Time will tell though.

Song, Matic, Fabregas are better offensively than Ramires, Matic, Cesc not defensively lol.
