Let him go to Lazio. He is 28, he has never played in a strong league.

I don't like Rooney and Suarez, but they can not be compared to Yilmaz. I think Demba Ba would also score 20+ goals in the turkish leauge.

Didier Drogba, even now, is better than Ba (and Torres) yet can't get close to Yilmaz's return.

12m for him is a great deal, not to mention he won't be on very high wages either. For a player who has scored the amount he has over the past couple seasons - in Europe as well as domestically - it is worth a gamble for any team looking for a striker.

Yilmaz agent awaits Lazio go-ahead

Burak Yilmaz’s agent has confirmed they’re ready and waiting for Lazio to agree terms with Galatasaray. “There’s no problem with us.”

Representatives from the Turkish club flew in to Rome this morning to discuss the transfer fee, as they reportedly want €15m compared to Lazio’s offer of €9.5m.

“There’s no problem with us. If the two clubs manage to reach an agreement, then we are ready to negotiate the terms of the contract,” agent Ali Egesel told Sporx in Turkey.

“Lazio showed their willingness to speak with us, but first they must resolve the transfer fee issue with Galatasaray. After that agreement between the clubs, then we can talk.”

This deal only makes sense as a part-exchange with Ba, in order to improve upon Ba.

Honestly this is the wrong kind of bet. Top clubs don't sell their top strikers, especially not to us. So instead of betting on 27/28 year old players, who have already reached their peak, we need to bet on younger strikers who have the potential to become world class. Yes, it is difficult, but the returns will be better than getting these average stop-gap players who we all know won't be good enough.

Sturridge's personality and perhaps demands, may have made it difficult for the club to stick with him. However, betting on players like him is the correct approach IMO.

The same works for CMs too. Unfortunately Barcelona won't sell Iniesta, the same way City won't sell Toure.

Yilmaz has a high scoring rate yet I feel like he will come up empty like everyone else has lately. Eh, I'd rather ride this season out with the current decoys until Lukaku returns but I have a feeling Chelsea pull off the transfer of Rooney come January.
