If Torres goes the rest of the season without scoring a goal I think he should voluntarily terminate his contract. He's gone 1298 mins on the pitch without a goal, in fact he has watched players like Ramires, Sturridge and Mata create and finish their own chances time and time again. I can already see that Mata has given up on him, when Mata first arrived he was trying to put everything on a plate for Torres but now he's just took a leaf from Sturridge's book and he's bypassing Torres.

What possesed us to pay 180k a week in the first place, he was only on 80k at the Scousers, surely a basic payrise would have been suited or if he really was "ambitious" he would have just accepted the same wage.

I think it was just the fact that the club just wanted to offer him a contract he would not turn down because they didn't have much time to conclude it. Torres actually took a pay cut to join Liverpool which is another kick in the teeth, Chelsea football club has to be run as a business and not a toy. We have spent 80 million pounds on 2 strikers ( Sheva/Torres) in recent years and those 2 transfers have dented our financial aspirations.

Worst thing is that apart from this deal we have been clever with transfer's and wages in recent season's.

Ramires is on something like 60k a week, Luiz is on something similar and we managed to haggle down the transfer price for him, Romeu is on 20k, Mata is on 55k, Meireles is on something similar also. Cahill is on 80k which isn't that much for our recent standards, So we blow our recent wage (and transfer) reduction's out of the water with this deal.

We should pull on Leti's heartstrings and offer £20m plus Torres and an extended Courtious loan for Falcao.

As for the £50m, lets pretend we spent £73m on Mata.

if roman didn't procrastinate so damn much and face the weaknesses in the squad years ago we wouldn't have had to sign him, but people go on about the price... there was no alternative at the time..
