The only place to be 11,313
Only Floppes fanboys felt that way, using people like Backstreet as an example about people thinking he might return to form is retarded. It was very crystal clear for most people that a striker who is capable of going 24 hours without a goal should not be our automatic first choice. That was the problem - not Torres mistake but the fact the whole team was build around the biggest transfer fiasco in the History of the game. Even up to the Sunderland game, there was a tiny bit of hope and the fans wanted it to work out as much as anyone. But you're right in that it's a fiasco that a number of people (Carlo, Roman, the board) need to take responsibility for. That single transfer ruined two seasons.Ba was signed in the winter and can't play in the Europa League - last winter we had 5 players capable of playing up top now we have two. Ba is also a player who is an injury away from retirement Every player is an injury away from retirement. He's been an astute signing but clearly the club (Roman) has been saving it's powder to make a run at Falcao, in order to tempt Pep to the club. This has been the other major mistake and it stems from one man - Roman. It's the boards fault because they have made it crystal clear it's the Floppes show this season, only match Sturridge played ahead of Floppes was when Floppes was banned due to his retarded actions against United. Are we now saying Torres should've been sent off against United? Bit harsh. Again, Sturridge was a victim of us spending a lot of money on Torres, but we spent a lot of money on Torres. He had to be given every chance to succeed because we spent a lot of money on him.I blame the Board Floppes and Roman equally - people using the FSW and Floppes as a scapegoat are ridiculous, FSW was signed to get the best out of Floppes; by our inept board who fired our only Champions League winning manager; after they had made sure Floppes was the only striker he could possibly use. At this point I should mention how hilarious the name Floppes is. You'd have thought it would get boring after a while, but by jove it gets funnier with each utterance.Anyway, I don't believe Benitez was hired to get the best out of Torres. He was available and willing to work on a short-term basis. Again, this was all based on us getting Pep in the summer which has really damaged us as a club. Pacquiao 1,834
do you guys remember this? He used to be incredible, creating chances, making goals out of nothing, making epl defenders look like U16 substitutes. He's not even a shadow of that anymore, its two different players, I see no similarities. I'll never understand how a player could fall so far so fast.He was absolutely oozing with confidence back then! wow!
different level 1,056
Not sure if this thread is for discussion or bashing, but then again there aren't many (any) positives from Nando recently, are there? Backstreet09

Thomas Williams 166
if we can get 10-15million for Torres AND they take on his wages, well, I can't think of a greater miracle. Chelsea need to jump on that like Rafa jumps on pastries. We could pay for two great players with his wages alone, and the 15 million could either go to a start striker or midfielder.I'll be ecstatic if this ends up happening, what luck!To think, we bought Azpilicueta for half of that, I'm laughing at Torres being worth twice as much as him and 5 years older,
manpe 10,861
The papers were always going to run this story, weren't they. It's a seller. I wouldn't believe a word they say regarding Torres prior to transfer window. Peace.

Hutcho 8,443
15 mil... I would take him leaving for nothing. Providing it happens in the summer. It's hot to be better for everyone if we just move on and we can start a new chapter... Unless there is some other reason that will mean next season torres will start finding his form again.... Like he will change the colour of his undershirt. Or his deodorant.
CHOULO19 24,332
The issue with selling Torres is not the fee but his wages. You can find someone who's willing to pay 15-20m for him but you won't find someone who will pay him 180k/wk. That's why I'm sure he's staying.. Peace. and Heisenberg
FabHazard 655
its just a rumour!!he will not go anywhere. No one will pay his huge wages.I doubt torres will take a paycut.I think torres will stay here next season.Roman will not sell his beloved boy.
