Superblue 6,372
The problem is he only has a year left on his contract and talks have hit an impasse. If he won't sign a new contract I would rather get some return on him with healthy bonuses and sell on clauses. However I agree, I would rather keep him as second choice striker next season. He knows he will get at least 20-25 games next season at centre forward and if Torres fails and he performs he will become first choice. It is up to him if he wants the challenge? Certainly going to Man City will give him less chances considering their abundance of strikers.
The Rising Sun 711
IMO, Ben Arfa is much much better than Sturridge. dont know why people rate him so highly, yes he has a bright moment or two, but then immediately after that he does something silly like not passing or shooting from stupid angles. In the business end of moves, he always plays against the probabilities and either loses the ball, doesnt pass at the right time, or shoots . Going for personal glory all the time, He is detrimental to the team play at many occasions, to the point where right from the beginning of last season, when he got the ball and started running, most players decided not to make runs and hope for sturridge to set them up.... Sad really. AVB ruined his Chelsea prospects. He still has this season to prove himself. Im hoping that with the arrival of Hulk and Hazard, he takes his selfishness and ego a notch down, and learns from these players, rather than trying to show he is the best player around. CHOULO19 24,332
I don't see him leaving. He and Torres will be contending for that lone striker role next season and I have a feeling the Spaniard will come off second best. Either way, with 7 competitions ahead, both will get their fair share of matches.
Sheva. 5,373
He will play even less if he joins City. They have Aguero, Tevez and Balotelli for the CF position (and also Dzeko if he stays). 3/4 players that would definitely play before him. Igi26 346
I don't know why we would sell Sturridge? He is the man who scored most goals from strikers this season playing out of the position. I want him to start few games at CF. He is born scorer and could be excelent for us if Torres doesn't show better form.
Strike 7,489
as KV mentioned, Sturridge as backup striker is a good idea. he can also play in the wings if needed. however, if we do sign hulk, i can understand if he wants to leave but we have to do everything to keep him here. there is no guarantee that torres will start firing next season so sturridge, lukaku and hulk will all be handy

capriccioso 2,545
Mancin wants him back for 10mio...For fuck sake, if we take it...10 mio for 23yrs old talented english winger? Fuck of Mancini!Starting price is 20mio, but I wouldnt sell him for less than 25...I hope we can keep him, he will now play as CF and have great support. His contract runs out in one year. I'd bite their hands off at 12 or 13 million. We're not going to see proper money for him unless we give him a contract extension... perhaps then, factoring in the traditional English player overvaluation, we can get 25-30 million for him. I guess there's no case for selling him at this time. Perhaps, with a new contract, if things still aren't working out, we can sell him for that 25-30 million mark next June. BlueJewel 56
Sorry if this has been posted before, saw this video of Sturridge in 2004 when he was 14 and won player of a tournament hosted at the Old Trafford. Rambo
Kojo 4,676
Don't sell him to Liverpool, not even for 30 million, i would be sick and i mean sick if he went there and turned out amazing. Do not do it Chelsea!, and for 15 million?, no fucking way.

CHOULO19 24,332
I have much criticism for Danny, but one thing he does perfectly is seize his chances. I hope he does so next season. I believe in him, he can take that lone striker position.
Popular Post! Tomo 21,751 Posted June 11, 2012 Popular Post! Share Posted June 11, 2012 The stick Sturridge get's is so bewildering i don't even know where to start.Remember seeing him on loan at Bolton and him seizing his chance, forcing his way into the team (something Kakuta, McEachran and Van Aanholt could not do on similar loan spells) scoring goals and lookin impressive. The slightest sniff off him leaving or going on loan again last summer had this and any other based Chelsea forum into near meltdown. Now remember who was coming up with the goods and keeping us in the race for 4th single handedly upto Christmas while Drogba and Torres just looked disinterested? yes Danny Sturridge and at that point he wasn't that far behind Mata in our run in for best player award, if he was atall.Just remember how on form he was back last Christmas and for Bolton rewind 6 months then rewind 1 year and tell me you want him to leave? The second half of the season he had a bit of a goal and performance drought, but this is his first season playing regularly for a team with big expectation's, it was going to happen sooner or later and the fact a young lad is getting stick for 1 minor goal drought but an experienced world cup winner is getting excuses made for him through 2 major drought's is wrong on so many levels (it's like sending down a 16 year old lad for sleeping with a under age girl once but making excuses for and letting off a 30 year old man who does the same thing as the young lad but does it twice).Yes he may be a bit greedy, well a lot, but he gets goals, give him a run of games and he will score. He was a bit upset about not playing "number 9" last season, but do you think he would be complaining if Falcao was playing for us and scoring week in week out? He was upset (and rightly so) because he was getting shafted to the wing to occupy and (at the time) out of form 33 year old and a Spaniard who went on 2 embarrassing goal drought's, while he was hungry and itching to prove himself in that position, can you blame him being frustrated watching others play their and be disinterested? He has bit's that need improving to his game but let him go and he will come back to haunt us big time, he deserves a shot at the "number 9" position a lot more than El Nino at this current time and personally if i was RDM he would be starting in that position in August. The second half of the season, he was asked to play both RM and LM which just will never suite Sturridge. He is an attacker with a natural nose for goal. If we sell him, we're idiots. This is exactly the kind of player we need to keep. Ashblues
KonohasOrangeFlash 2,607
Sturridge can be class. If Torres and Sturridge live up to their potential then we will have scary firepower.
BleedsBlue 1,549
Sturridge may not always pass the ball but the guy scores goals consistently irrespective of his position on the field.Chelsea will make a BIG mistake if they decide to sell him.Man City regretted it when he was in sublime form, let's just hope we don't make the same mistake.Give the young lad a chance,he deserves it!
