Luiz topic aside, that over 30 policy is pure nonsense. So a 29-year old can get a long term contract while a 30 or 31-year old can only get one year? Not all players are the same, this should be managed individually.

The club are probably wary of another situation akin to the start of this decade where our squad was 2/3rds over 30, most got stagnant and we were faced with a massive rebuilding job almost overnight.

I understand but not all players are the same. Certain players play their best football at the age of 29-33 while others like Rooney or Fabregas simply get burned out and lose their legs. Also its not the same for centre-backs, goalkeepers and wingers.

I disagree with that rule because it has nothing to do with whats happening on the pitch. There are ways to sign a long term contract with the wages being gradually reduced or stuff like that.

Lol or Re-sign Djilobodji 😂😂😂

Haha ! forgot about him. Only if we re-sign Tal Ben Haim as well (oooh those tight shorts). Fuck me we've had some plonkers.

I did like the 'cannibal' Boulahrouz though...

David Luiz rejects Chelsea contract extension offer

The 31-year-old wants a long-term contract but Chelsea are only willing to offer short, one-year deals

Milan Skriniar

Lucas Hernández ( 2 for one as he benches Alonso at LB instantly and is also a superb CB) He is injured atm though

Dayot Upamecano

Benjamin Pavard (another 2 for 1, as he is also a great RB)

Alessio Romagnoli

José Giménez

Rúben Dias

Thilo Kehrer

Manuel Akanji

Eder Militao

I do rate those above over

Rugani

Caldara

Jonathan Tah

Nikola Milenkovic (maybe)

Ibrahima Konaté (atm)

Malang Sarr

Panagiotis Retsos

Dan-Axel Zagadou

Jules Koundé

I also highly recco a 18yo (turns 19 on December 30th) Jean-Clair Todibo from Toulouse

Out of this list I'd take Lucas Hernandez instantly, he was a monster for France.

The problem is it's hard to tell who will keep up a good level, on paper Rooney should have gone well into his 30's while Giggs should have lost it early 30's but the reality was the opposite. At that age father time is potentially a stones throw away, players often lose their powers almost overnight.

While i can agree the odd exception should be made i am very happy to know we won't let the grass grow under our feet again.

I dont understand what Luiz's problem is.

He keeps going on about his love for us which I kinda believe.

But he knows as well as everyone our contract situation.

IF he was secure in himself he would accept the year and make sure he stayed at the level where we need him to be. As long as he was playing at or near his best I'm sure he would get it renewed/ What stronger incentive does he need.

If he was given 2/3 years and didn't stat on form we could still be getting shot of him after a year.

It's nearly always the agent pushing the agenda -he probably doesn't give a fuck and just wants to play football and listen to heavy rock
