🇧🇷 David Luiz

A hard tackling defender like him is essential in our style. Like @Strike, pointed out in his article, Ivanovic and Luiz could be our main defensive partnership both r aggressive defenders and do a good job with the ball on their feet. It's gr8 to have defenders like that in a side that dominates possession.

Luiz hard tackling nature and tendency to dive into tackles (something which many ppl have been criticising) helped in getting the 2 goals at Old Trafford. Our midfielders often fail to get tackles and help us in maintaining possession atleast we've got a CB who does that?

Do u guyz think that Luiz should play at CM and someone else should partner Iva at the Centre?

commented on match thread but I have a change in him. It looks as if the player has taken it upon himself to prove his critics wrong. And as stats show when partnered with Ivanovic he looks quality put in some very goo performances. I think bar necessary rotation we have to play the remaining matches with these two anchoring the back four. Not world class yet but definately class.

When Luiz plays well, the team does. He might not be the best player defensively we have for the centre-back positions, but his footballing ability and drive are potent attacking tools. Even just by carrying the ball 40 yards forward as he so often does, from defence to midfield, he acts as an important attacking fulcrum.

Juan also said about Luiz that he tries to be a happy person and actually is one. Even after defeats, he is naturally frustrated but after some minutes he is already trying to make other players smile again. Beautiful character.

And that's why he's future captain material.

Luiz is all nice and everything, but he must stop making some silly mistakes!

I dont know if it is because of T. Silva's ugly looks at him or the enormous pressure of Brazilian shirt, but he is superb with the National Team. He maintains his amazing football skills, but he doesnt do some crazy shits he does with us...

I am of the opinion Luiz needs a top polarizing defender besides him to thrive at Chelsea. Thiago Silva or Young John Terry like...

Mourinho can fix this.

Dont know whether my eye's are deceiving me or are we finally seeing luiz mature into that fine defender all of us thought he had the potential to become.I am praying that he keeps performing like this and does not go back to being that mistake prone defender again.

It is seemingly chic for football journalists and pundits to have constant digs at David Luiz, and to be honest it grinds at my nerves. He is an easy target because he made a reputation for being rash in his first few Chelsea games. Though it doesn't surprise me that many jounalists and pundits are actually naive and ignorant to what David is capable of.

This for instance: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1595871-15-most-frustratingly-inconsistent-footballers-in-europe-this-season/page/12

Here are several reasons why Luiz shouldn't have been the captain.

1. He is one of the worst players on the national team.

2. How can he speak with authority when he doesn't even play centre-back properly?

3. David has enough problems trying to play a clean game, so adding the stress that comes with being a captain makes no sense.

At 18 years of age, Marquinhos is already a better CB than Luiz.

So basically, if David Luiz receives a yellow card against City, he will miss two following domestic matches, meaning two following league games. BUT after the weekend everything expires and there would be no risk.

The question is - play him against City and risk it or leaving him out and allowing him to surely play in the league? Finishing in top 4 is THE priority but he would be really missed in the FA Cup clash.
