We will know by the end of tonight what offer was accepted?

The top three to four bids will be looked at by Roman. He can send one or several to be vetted by the UK government. There is no deadline for this process given other than the UK government said it will move as quickly as it can.

Think it’ll end up being the Boehly group but I’m still holding out just the faintest hope for the Saudi’s just for the meltdowns everywhere and for the guarantee that we will remain at the very top forever.

But of all the American groups I think Boehly’s is the best by far. I’d be cautiously optimistic under that ownership. We may not be in the running for the very, very top echelon signings for £100m, but he will understand that investing in top players is necessary.

I agree with you except for what i have been reading in about Boehly is That he would, for example, rather pay €250m for Haaland instead of €100m for Lukaku if the data and scouting all pointed at Haaland beeing the elite option. Now this argument is a stretch but the point is my view of Boehly is that he is not afraid of splashing the cash on the right player if the circumstances are right 😄

Saudi Media Group vs Boehly Wyss Group

As said previously, I wouldn't be surprised if there's someone we haven't even heard about publicly yet who could have a serious bid in place.

From those that have publicly been reported so far, I genuinely think the Saudi bid will prove too big a minefield to deal with. I don't think there will be an issue from the Government, but I do think there will be red flags with the Premier League tests which could delay proceedings and we don't have time for that.

The Ricketts seem to be finding a lot of opposition regarding their political position and the dad's previous comments, emails, etc. I think they would likely be a pretty credible bid but such a negative perception of them definitely wouldn't help their case.

The Boehly bid seems very strong. I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up being successful.

I also wouldn't write off the bids from Nick Candy and Broughton/Coe. If either or both are well funded, I think they could offer something to Roman with regards to one final legacy. At the moment his reputation and ownership is being soiled and is in tatters and he may feel that these bids may be attractive to giving him some goodwill back as both have already suggested that they would look to move down a route that adopts a number of the principals of this fan-led review. Rightly or wrongly, being the first of the big clubs to adopt something like this could prove to be something pretty big in the future and may appeal to Roman to be seen as providing this to the club.

Nick Candy has already came out tonight in response to his bid and from what he has said, the bid does look something potentially different. Things too like the writing off of the loan to the CPO which he has confirmed he will do, will add weight and support to his bid.

Nick Candy should have joined with Boehly

that would have been a powerhouse

I'm curious with this Saudi Group. They state that they are not link to the Saudi government.

Where the money from that group is coming?

If they are richer then Roman then I'm all for it.

Saudi Media Group Have 'No Direct Links to Saudi Government' Following Chelsea Bid

https://www.si.com/soccer/Chelsea/news/saudi-media-group-have-no-direct-links-to-saudi-government-following-Chelsea-bid

Saudi Media Group, a private consortium set up to purchase Chelsea, have no direct links to the Saudi Government, according to reports.

The group have reportedly made a bid of $3.5 billion, which would meet Roman Abramovich's valuation of Chelsea.

As per Guardian Sport, sources claim that the Saudi Media Group do not have direct links to the Saudi Government.

This comes ahead of Friday's deadline as Raine Group named March 18 as the last day for bids to come in for Chelsea.

The Guardian states: 'Sources have said, in response to questions regarding a possible Premier League’s owners’ and directors’ test, that Saudi Media has no direct links to the Saudi government.'

Furthermore, UK's sports minister, Nigel Huddlestone, has opened up on a bid from a Saudi consortium as he said: “Saudi Arabia is an important partner of the UK in investment, intelligence and culture. We welcome Saudi Arabian investment.”

It remains to be seen as to whether the consortium are successful with their bid as Raine Group are set to whittle the bids down to two or three preferred owners after Friday's deadline.

It was previously reported that buyers have been advised that a cash offer for Chelsea, and being the highest bidder, will be crucial if they wish to win the race to buy the Club.

Mohamed Alkhereiji is a Chelsea fan leading the private consortium to take over the Blues from Abramovich.

It had previously been revealed that Saudi Media wished to renew the contracts of Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta and redevelop Stamford Bridge.

Going into the deadline, there could be 27 bids going in with up to 12 of these not yet made public.

It remains to be seen as to who will be successful but the Saudi consoritum appear to have no problems facing them if they are to take over.

Chelsea players 'uncomfortable' with prospect of Ricketts family becoming new owners

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/Chelsea-players-uncomfortable-prospect-ricketts-26499025

snip

The Ricketts Family - who currently own baseball giants Chicago Cubs - have publicly confirmed their intention to launch a bid ahead of Friday’s deadline. Any interested parties will need to officially lodge an offer before 5pm EST (9pm UK time) on Friday March 18.

Under their ownership, the Cubs ended one of the most infamous sporting curses in world sport, guiding them to their first World Series title in 2016. However, just three years after that success, alleged emails obtained by Splinter, sent by Joe Ricketts - expressed Islamophobic views and conspiracy theories. These alleged emails were sent between 2009 and 2013, with some sent to his son Pete Ricketts - the incumbent Governor of Nebraska who is a co-owner of the Chicago Cubs.

Joe Ricketts is alleged to have written in one email in 2012: "Christians and Jews can have a mutual respect for each other to create a civil society. As you know, Islam cannot do that. Therefore we cannot ever let Islam become a large part of our society. Muslims are naturally my (our) enemy due to their deep antagonism and bias against non-Muslims."

Another email from the 80-year-old - sent to Pete Ricketts in 2010 - is alleged to read: "I think Islam is a cult and not a religion. Christianity and Judaism are are based on love whereas Islam is based on 'kill the infidel' a thing of evil."

Within hours of Splinter publishing the alleged emails, Joe Ricketts released a statement on his official website. "I deeply regret and apologise for some of the exchanges I had in my emails," read the apology. "Sometimes I received emails that I should have condemned. Other times I’ve said things that don’t reflect my value system. I strongly believe that bigoted ideas are wrong."

It is believed that Joe is not part of the proposed Chelsea transaction - with children Tom, Laura and Todd hoping to team up with billionaire hedge fund tycoon Ken Griffin to form a consortium

However, according to the Mail, Chelsea’s Muslim players, which includes N’Golo Kante, Antonio Rudiger, Hakim Ziyech and Malang Sarr, would be uncomfortable should the Ricketts family become the new owners. The Ricketts family have a reported net worth of more than £4b, while Griffin’s is said to be closer to £20bn, however despite their financial muscle, there is a risk they could alienate a large portion of Thomas Tuchel’s playing staff.

Wonder how long it’s going to take to sort through everything and I wonder if Roman still has the final say in who wins. His assets are technically frozen rather than seized, right? So Chelsea FC still actually belongs to him but he just can’t access the proceeds?
