Leif 6,006
Guardiola has come out to say that he only actually needs around a month to recharge his batteries, and if a team seduces him, he could get back into managing this season.

As we saw, the guy is no tactical genius either as he had no plan b to combat our defensive set up against them.Come on Gourlay and Buck, grow a pair, stand up to Roman and use your eyes for once and take the intelligent approach rather than the short term headline grabbing one. Kostas 1,468
If what Guardiola said is true then I'd give him at least 70% chances of being our next coach. I just don't buy that the problem with keeping Di Matteo is the contract length, neither he nor the club would make a big deal of it and most importantly none would leak it to the press. KonohasOrangeFlash 2,607
Well boys, strap yourself in. It begins. Guardiola will now be chased to the ends of the earth by Roman. I for one would love him here. The only managers that would get the nod ahead of RDM is Mourinho and Guardiola.
English Freak 456
Wouldn't it be funny if Liverpool actually appointed Martinez now! Not really...Liverpool are a cup team now & they want a young manager who can lead the club for many years.Well boys, strap yourself in. It begins. Guardiola will now be chased to the ends of the earth by Roman. I for one would love him here. The only managers that would get the nod ahead of RDM is Mourinho and Guardiola.Would be awesome to see Guardiola at Chelsea..but I see him managing United rather than Chelsea. My only question is, if Roman goes chasing after Guardiola, does that mean RDM will leave his interim manager role...because I don't think he's gonna stick around for 1 year...he'd probably go manage Lazio or Villa from next season. Fulham Broadway 17,311
To me it doesnt make sense -remove the manager and replace him with someone who was tactically out manouvered against all the odds. It will also be a massive PR disaster.

Go read Guillem Balague's Twitter timeline. He said "months" NOT "month"!

BleedsBlue 1,549
Chelsea have showed some real lack of respect to RDM.If they really want him to continue then they would have handed him the 1 year contract extension immediately instead of trying to evaluate what's best for the club. Its clear that the club wants Pep and are waiting for his final decision. He did first say that he wanted to 'rest' for 1 year but rumors say that he is reconsidering.Like I have said many times on this forum, the appointment of Pep is inevitable and because of this RDM won't have a long deserved managerial career at Chelsea.RDM being a Chelsea legend will know what's best for him and the club and therefore will reject the contract extension, just so that Chelsea won't take the heat of parting ways with him. This move shows his love for the club and fans.As a fan,I thank him for all the success he has brought to us in such a short term spell. He's a fantastic coach and wish him a successful future. BlueLion. 21,491
I am really, really against Guardiola coming here. I do not want to see as if I am demeaning his efforts at Barcelona. But the style of football he employs does not suit this team of players we need. Unless we have a complete squad overhaul, it will just be a case of Scolari all over again.
