I always put it down to Gerrard having MUCH more natural ability as a player than Lampard and that Lampard over the years has tried much harder and practices to get where he's at and do what he he does well.

So it probably comes down to personal preference, are naturally gifted players better than the ones that have to work in other areas? :S

No bias or anything*, i don't think Gerrard is great. Lampard in his prime was one fucking awesome player, who was nominated for the World player of the year award and only finished behind the great Ronaldinho.

Completely disagree. Lampards passing, especially when he was younger was sublime. Im sure at one point he had over 80% pass success ratio, consistently.

This forum will clearly be bias, but looking objectively, Frank by quite some distance. At least ten goals scored in each season for the last nine years, guiding us to three PL titles and numerous cups. Gerrard is/was a terrific player, but he never quite reached that level. All he's got that Frank hasn't is a Champions League winners' medal.

look at most goals lampard is the only midfield player in there and thats says it all pretty much a goal scoring record that puts strikers to shame.... Lampard any day of the week, better distribution of the ball, better box to box player and all round game, gerrard scraps the 30 yard screamers just because we all know about lampard, lampard goal at the nu camp, from the by line pure class.......

Lampard's passing is (was) a joy to watch. I literally liked to watch him play mainly for his passing, which was slick and he made it look so easy and effortless (still does, but he doesn't attempt ambitious passes that often anymore). Oh, and his long range shooting used to be legendary.. a shame he's lost this attribute now. Gerrard's long range shooting is also legendary.

I think u can't compare them as they play different roles in the team.... Gerrard is all over the midfield and that's his advantage. Lamps' role is clearly different (don't ask me to explain how it just is).
