Top players are allowed bad games. Where was Messi when Barca needed him the most in the UCL quarters against Atletico? I thought he was poor but you know what a couple bad games does not mean he is poor. For me still the best player in the world. KDB has been quality for City this season and was poor tonight as were the rest of City however why should there be people slating him when as a whole in his first season he has been fantastic.

As always you're reasonable and here lies the problem, if i go out to stirr it a bit up, only the good guys come calling, lol.

I think Messi played good, the passes where there, i think he was the best from MSN trio.
But yeah, Messi has a big problem and that's called Messi(2012) or Messi (2015) who knows. He set the bar too high, even he struggles sometimes, first world problems...

KdB was worse, i expect much more from him, these are the games where you show the world what the hype is all about, i think he could have tried harder, that's my problem,
but no worries, just perception.

Yes, over the season so far he showed Chelsea what they're missing, he cuts it in the Prem and in Europa (PSG).
As you said, there are weaker games to come, not everything's rosy and golden, that's all i wanted to say.
Because i've only read in here how great he is, but that's not the case for all the time, imo.

Cheers to all of you!

Bluemoon poster...

'Absolutely diabolical tonight. I mean really really insipid.

There's a lot of people look back at his season through ginger-tinted spectacles. He hit some great form when he came back from injury and people assumed he'd been like that all season.

Nonesense.

He's been inconsistent. When on form he's showed flashes of absolute brilliance. Usually against teams that allow him loads of space, and leave space in behind for him to hit early balls or drive in to space. But he's had plenty of completely anonymous games, most of which have been discussed at length earlier in the thread.

The problem he's got is when teams don't give him space, they don't leave space in behind, he's completely ineffective, like tonight. He hides, he doesn't show for the ball, he's not brave enough to demand the ball to feet in tight spaces. If he wants to play as a number 10 against a decent side they're not just going to allow him to hit an early ball over the top of them, he's going to have to figure out another more subtle, cuter way.

And then when we are out of possession he's a complete liability. If Yaya had allowed his runner go as easily as DeBruyne did on their goal he would get absolutely hammered on here. But DeBruyne is the new kiddies fave so he apparently doesn't have to put in a shift.

Silva has been injured this season and has struggled for form and fitness. But in the 5 years I've been watching him I've never seen him hide. He'll still demand the ball, show feet, get on the half turn, try and create something. He'll work hard for the team, he'll always do his best. He's a very brave footballer, particularly when we have the ball. De Bruyne shit himself tonight. He bottled it.'

Clearly written by a football fan who forms his opinions by watching the game rather than just clicking to the stats site.

I regularly read about how brilliant Kevin was a Werder. Nonsense. I doubt any non Bremen fan saw as many of Kevin's games there as I did. His rave reviews were not merited in my opinion. There were some good games of course but there were more poor ones. I saw him only four times at Wolfsburg. His only good performance in those was against Bayern. In fact it was a brilliant performance because Bayern played right into his hands. They left huge spaces for him to run or pass into and Kevin duly tore them apart in a big VfL win.

I often dismiss stats, and I've done so again in this post, but that attitude isn't entirely justified. Statistics do have something to tell us, so the shear weight of goals and assists Kevin contributes can't be ignored. He is clearly a valuable player but people have to keep perspective about what he is and what he isn't.

Agree, reminds me at a time when Oscar first half season brilliant and then missing was the main discussion couple of years ago, more like 'performance vs stats'. Oscar stats were 8+ goals & 8+ assist already, but 'fans' who watch him playing regularly clearly not satisfied with his performance, therefore some still bashing him continuously of his display, 'ignoring' his stats. The contradiction seems to happen with KDB now. KDB stats are good what is matter, don't really care about his performance good or bad, or whether more bad than good.

Very bad game, showed nothing today, except of misplacing passes and more importantly, no fucking leadership when his team needed him most.
75 mil player and brought nothing to the table, have you seen his free kick?! Good position, but he couldn't even keep it in, was that bad, lol
But i see, the thread is only active when we can moan and insult a Chelsea legend who actually won us titles, lolz

He's not 75m€ player, he is 9m€ player in my eyes, the sum he was bought from Genk.

His game against Real yesterday was as bad as his game against them in 2013 at pre-season. Like a complete and utter failure. That was his only such poor game there in pre-season and this is his only such poor game here in the season. Maybe he can't perform against Real.

And talking about overraction :D Fuck me, it's either Mount Everest or Mariana Trench. Where was Aguero in all this ? Apparently the best ball-playing striker in the world, can't keep the ball to save his life. World-class my ass. But oh well he is actually world-class, as is De Bruyne. But "Nadie es perfecto" as they say in Spain.

The whole of the Man City team totally bottled it last night not just De Bruyne they were like rabbits in the headlights.

Exactly this. Aguero was completely shut off, Yaya didn't have a second clue on what was going as Kroos and Modric totally passed him into a spin whilst Fernandinho was running around trying to break up play but was left looking like a blind fly swatter.

The long and short of it is, De Bruyne is developing into a player of massive magnitude, he will have quiet games but he will have more good than bad and is already playing at very high level, both proven in England and Germany.

He is very talented and can have a excellent game if on fire. But seriously, it's not about being world class every game but he is a Anelkaesque-type of player, seems bored and lackluster at times. Mou was right at that time, a player that needs the assurance he will play every game at 22 or so only to feel free of pressure is set to leave. I mean he was a kid and not proven at all, to me nobody has the right tu be a guaranteed starter if he doesn't perform...

Sad he ended whhere he is, cause can't stand city but still a very good player on his day...

Yes and Ivanovic did not perform for a while and still kept playing him.... So why your taking a double standard here?

It was more about Mou not playing him for 20 games in a row and then giving him one Capital One Cup game and then again ignoring him the next 20 games, while he performed excellent until he landed in the stands. Oscar could play 50 sh*t games in a row and Mou kept playing him because he is a better defender than De Bruyne. We can all see the beautiful result of Mou's thoughtful proces.
