Kevin de Bruyne

At wolfsburg, he has free license to roam all around whether it's on the wings or thru the middle, but at City, with a playmaker like Silva already there it will be difficult for KDB, similar to the situation with Nasri. Nasri is a really really good playmaker, but at City, he was always restricted because of the tactics employed there.. KDB might suffer the same faith as Nasri.

There is some truth in that, you also see it in Belgium where the combo Hazard-De Bruyne still doesn't really work.

Long term I think City mainly see him as a replacement for Yaya who's doing his last season at City anyway. Remember how City already wanted to take him in the January window last year to replace Yaya but didn't go through in the end.

In that respect he'd be an excellent signing for them, but it's true that he may struggle a bit as long as Touré AND Silva are around.

Not a big Fernandinho fan though, I think that's probably the only region where they could still do with reinforcement. They'd finally have a chance even in the CL then.

If they get like a Javi Martinez instead of Fernandinho...

Manchester City appear to be closing in on their latest big money capture as reports in Germany claim they have agreed a massive £50.4m (€70m) deal to sign Wolfsburg forward Kevin De Bruyne

Because he's clueless ... I just said it! ;-)

No, we just have to deal with the fact that about 90% of us Chelsea fans and maybe 70% of English football watchers in general, will eternally regard KDB as an overrated, unprofessional, self-centered, lazy excuse for a footballer because they were indoctrinated by our beloved manager Mourinho, who never gives chances to cheap new players anyway (Cuadrado, Salah, De Bruyne, the list is endless) but needed particulary good excuses for dismissing De Bruyne who was already regarded internationally as a hot prospect when at Chelsea.

Anyone, however, who's actually seen De Bruyne play on a regular basis, for Genk, for Werder Bremen, for Belgium, for Wolfsburg, knows that he is a consistent world-class player. But seeing how none of these teams are English, Chelsea & PL fans in general see no reason to change "their" mind, which is actually Mourinho's mind, or not even Mourinho's mind but just what he said in order to have a proper excuse.

And that, my friends, is the one and only truth on De Bruyne vs The English Public.

So I really hope the City deal will come through and he'll become a PL legend, even if it means he'll have to score and assist twice as much as anyone else in order to convince the stubborn herd of Mourinho sheep.

So are Barca fans who aren't bothered about Yaya Tours or Ibrahimovic Guardiola sheep? Or Sanchez and Cesc Luis Enrique sheep?

50.4M hahahaha what a rip off.. good player but never worth that money. The pressure is gonna be on him from the start again, something which he never dealt with completely well at Chelsea, despite not being a 50M transfer here.

FFP is a fucking joke.

Surely they would have to sell SOME players to accomuliate the money spend on Otamendi, Sterling and now De Bruyne.

They have made £38m so far on sales, and with Jovetic and Dzeko there are contingent permanent sales that could be used for account purposes this season, so for the purposes of the account books at City, the sales figure could reach £64m.

As I said to Zansnake, the £64m on their account books from sales plus the tv deal will more than cover their transfers.

City have their very dodgy UAE deals aswell, which ffp somehow allow. It's all a big joke.

This is what I don't get. If that is allowed then why doesn't Roman just get his company or Gazprom to sponsor Stamford Bridge for £500m like City and PSG do? Or get a bunch of Russian companies to sponsor our training field. How about a company gives us £50m per year to be our official touchline paint sponsor?

That's basically what City are doing.
