Whenever he plays, the rest of the team completely lose it defensively it seems these days. It's time to call it a day and realise that you're over the hill Gary. You either need reasonable pace as one of the outside centre backs, or a great understanding of the tactics and positional awareness of the position. Cahill has neither and the penalty was a clear example of this tonight. His attempts at the second and third goals too were poor. Someone wrote a piece the other day about how he's a reactive defender and that has always been his problem I believe playing at the highest level. Anybody runs at him and he'll back off until he's practically in line with Courtois.

We need to start moving on. Christensen for me is and should be the undisputed number 1 in the middle. Azpi is a lock too, and the other space currently has to be given to Rudiger and give him the chance for a run of games and develop.

He was actualy decent all these years despite criticism and Luiz too, but this season both are beyond average. Cahill being the apparent leader with all this experience doesnt show it in the slighest this season. Luiz too, always average defender apart from last season, but he had grit and drive, always leading the team and he looks like he is somewhere else, not on the pitch these days. This is spreading like a desease, one player turns shit, slowly the whole team.

It just shows we have no character in our players that would drag others up, instead they just sink down together.

He's wasn't as terrible as ppl make it out to be. He's playing his normal limited game as a decent/good player, who is barely good enough for a club with the aspirations we (should) have. The team is broken at the moment which exposes the defense. Bkayoko exposes the defense in particular.

However, better footballers can more easily maintain the level of performances during crisis. Limited players are, by definition, more affected by team form. Even missing Alonso, who despite his shortcomings has good technique, for the watford game contributed to that poor performance IMO. It's funny how people forget that technique and skill in handling the football is literally what this is all about.
