Joey Zhou 14
First, we don't know for sure if the club is reluctant to give him a new contract. Maybe they are trying to work out something.Secondly, we don't know Lampard's wage demand, it certainly wouldn't be the wisest thing in the world to pay a ridiculous amount of money to a 34 year old.Thirdly, Lampard is one of the best players who's ever put on a chelsea shirt, i love him to death. BUT he has not been able to produce the goods consistently this season, yes he still scored more than 10 goals in the PL this season but his overall performance hasn't been up there. Different to Cole (who also experienced a dip in form due to age) but still is one of the best fullbacks in the world.Last point, just because a legend is leaving doesn't mean you have to love the club less, no one is bigger than the club. I love Lampard a huge amount, as well as Drogba who left. Would I be heart broken if Lampard leaves, or Terry in the near future? heck yeah I would probably shed a tear like I did when Drogba left. Would I love Chelsea less, no way.You are a true blue! Beepu
bushman 2,043
I also admire Frankie a great deal. One classy footballer in my view who brought many memorable moments in my life just by watching him play.Since he is 34 year old, the club must move & replace him with younger player. Most of you will argue, Frank still scores plenty. Well, that is true but can he play 90 minutes twice a week as needed ? I doubt it.Will he lower his salary to let´s say half of current one ? I doubt it too. Therefore, he must be let go. Wish him much luck elsewhere.
lucio 5,418
he is not suited to playing in the double pivot. i would still play him occasionally in CAM.
xPetrCechx 13,570
IF lamps will accept a lower salary- need to stay.
Heisenberg 1,824
I think the main problem is, does really Lampard want to have less wages, less gametime, just to stay here ?
Sir Mikel OBE 4,920
It is time for him to go. He can get a last massive pay day in China,MLS(LOL), or even Russia. If we are serious about rebuilding, then we need to get the youngsters some game time. This can be achieved better with him gone.
The only place to be 11,313
Lampard is one of three players to feature in both games against Southampton (2-2 draw at home, 2-1 loss away) and QPR (0-0 draw away and 1-0 loss at home). In fact by my reckoning of the last six games we've lost, the only TWO players to start each of them has been Ivanovic and.....Lamps. (Southampton away, Man City away, Steaua away, Newcastle away, Swansea home, QPR home). That doesn't include the Man United FA Cup game that he came off in when we were 2-0 down, before coming back to draw 2-2.
Popular Post! bushman 2,043 Posted April 4, 2013 Popular Post! Share Posted April 4, 2013 Meaningless stats. Chelsea lost those games as a team & not because Frankie played in them. Joker10, Hutcho, Bosnian Blue and 2 others

MADEZ 9
I know why some people have such a feeling, they can't afford to see him in another team's jersey so am i but let us all wish for a bright future for the team, terry, drogba, lampard, and the rest will always be there for us even if they leave the team,1year contract will be enough for frankie. xPetrCechx

Henrique 9,133
Yes, in this case it really is, because its pretty strange that after all those years this is the first time he is not involved at all. Even Ba is there.

The board has held firm on it's view of not offering Lampard a new contract despite the incessant support from the fans. only way is if Jose comes and says he wants to keep Frank around. only will have that much power and balls to face the board
CHOULO19 24,332
He's not leaving just because he's not in the add, but it's another hint to add to the mountain of indexes pointing to his departure in the summer. Spike
The only place to be 11,313
You wouldn't incude a player whose contract situation is up in the air. It's as simple as that.I still think Mourinho's appointment could change things but in terms of Frank Lampard the player and not Frank Lampard the Chelsea icon, I don't know if he's doing enough on the pitch to earn a new contract.
