if you want a great team, you have to have a great player, it's easy !!!
great players, they are either to be taken when they are young before they explode taking right young (is not question of fortune, but to know see the ability!) or taking always the right players already explode! we have spent about 130-150£ in useless players (bakayoko, batman, zappacosta, drinkwater...) and we have several only decent players (willian, rudiger, luiz ecc)!
if we would have spent all money well taking 3-4 top players, would be all different!

Least we don’t have to worry about Barcelona signing Hazard now. 145m that is ludicrous, Coutinho is a very good player yes but what does that make Hazard, De Bruyne, Sanchez, Ozil all worth?

Oezil and Sanchez because of their age not so much. Hazard and KDB about 200m :P

Unbeaten on the season, 15 points clear at the top, goal difference of 51, scoring for fun even without Jesus, and have far and away the best squad in the league. Yet they feel the need to go out and buy one of the best players in the league to add to their attack.

How is anyone supposed to compete with that? It just doesn't seem fair. Unless United or ourselves go mental in the summer they will have a dynastic run for the next few years.

Ultimately, I think they will be good for English football. For the first time in a long time there is a genuinely good team in the Premier League. The rest will either have to up their game or get used to watching City trophy parades. Self interest suggests they will bust a gut trying to do the former.

They and United are the only ones who have shown that they're willing to spend literally whatever it takes to sign their top targets. Until I see us do the same I just don't believe we'll compete. We shop in the bargain bin compared to them.

There is no way Pep will keep Sane, Sterling, Bernard, Jesus, Aguero, Sanchez happy.

Besides we are three signings away from having top team too. RW and most importantly LWB and quality CM (or not if Barkley impresses). Back up striker too but doesnt have to be realy expensive.

That is doable in summer with all the money we have and potential departure of Luiz and Bats.

Football is unpredictable and ball is round. Everyone expected last season to be battle between manchesters, we won it. Everyone expected Real to destroy everyone again this season but its exactly opposite.

Personaly I think Aguero will leave soon, Sanchez isnt out and out world class player, neither is Sterling. Sane could be and Kdb is awesome too. Silva and Fernandinho are aging. Peps defences were never truly solid either.

So there is chance for us. City looks to be complete package to win PL yes because they have enough quality and depth, but Im sure we can build solid team to beat majority of PL too. Never mind if other teams improve, us but also City will have harder job. And second season after you win the title is almost never as good as everyone expects, so I think City will drop this form at one point.

As for CL, my prediction is City wont win it for a while. Pep just doesnt adopt when he has to (key games with Bayern and he got destroyed couple times because he was naive). And PL has no break meaning his players will likely suffer some fatigue. Lets be honest stamina of players like Scholes, Lamps, Gerrard were miles ahead of those that currently Man city has (and english teams in general). Thats why we suffer in europe.

Maybe Im biased and this all is just false hope, but football is like that. No era or team goes forever. And IMO while Pep has lot of quality and he installed winning mentality into City, are there any players that actualy have heart there? That would "die" on the pitch?

This is something you desperately need.

But obviously we will need to buy quality players ourselves too. There is no other way. I just think the gap isnt that large and we can catch them.

Agree with what @OhForAGreavsie said above but a factor that many seem to have overlooked is a number of their key players are in their 30s or soon entering the 30s. Kompany, Fernandinho, Silva, Aguero, Otamendi, Sanchez (if they get him) to name a few. They are going to get replaced sooner or later but who knows if they will actually be a dominant force in England as you foresee them to be. Then there is also the question - can they keep the kind of run they have had this season every season? can they continue to play at this level? can they keep going if opponents have worked them out? One thing about the Premier League is whenever a side become so dominant, the rest have tended to react and find a way to stop them.

United have spent fortunes over the last couple of years and look where they are now. Only 1 point ahead of us in the league.

People are right to point out that some of the key players are aging. But as we saw with Sagna, Zabaleta, Kolorov, etc. they'll just go out and buy 3-4 players at £50m each to replace them and upgrade. Something we simply can't (or won't) do.
