bluephoenix 1,131
Liverpool,City, united and Arses are the teams I wouldn't like seeing us loose to.. I have confidence in our players but if I think about the match against city, I am unable think straight ... We need redemption and when we play (arses and United) again we should have annhilatedonly positive I could see is that we had 11 men on the pitch AVB has work to do ..He has to reassess the whole situation again . I just hope Roman hasn't started his timer already !Edit: Its disappointing to see how Chelsea fans at FB are accusing AVB and want him to leave :-| really pathetic !!! Win or Lose be back the players, back manager, back the club ... the season is not yet over ... our players have a lot of potential ... and I am sure AVB is silently learning all his mistakes and will bounce back heavily on all these loses ! BlueLion. 21,491
Okay guys, I know it's a hard defeat to take.First Queens Park Rangers & now Arsenal. London derbies haven't been very good on us this week. It's a learning curve for everyone in the club, the support and spirit must stick through the entire club and fan base. Can I request we stop insulting members, throwing round terms like "glory hunter" and "go back to united/city/barcelona". It's kind of embarrassing to read. We're all fans here, and things get said when emotions run high.No-one's speaking and thinking rationally at the moment.Amen. CHOULO19 24,332
Honestly I signed out when the game ended because there were too many members, who are usually very rational, making illogical and overly-dramatic posts. (ex: the tittle race is over, AVB should be sacked, we are shit....etc)I think we should all get a grip, accept this defeat and take the positives like the fact that we were the better team for most of the game, and that we created so many chances to have scored 3. Liquidator 5,176
Some points to take from today: The title race is not over. We were way off the lead in December last season and ended up pushing United to the limit in MayVillas-Boas is a young manager who is still learning his trade. I think some people are expecting too much of a 33 year old who has barely managed 100 games. Of course at his age he is going to make mistakes because he is still learning. He may have got the tactics slightly wrong this time but look at when we played Man U and he got them spot on. Had it not been for bad luck and poor refereeing we could have tonked UnitedWe have to accept that the striker who we came up against today, Robin van Persie is one of the best strikers in the world at the moment. He has scored 29 in his last 28 Premier League gamesAll big teams have these freakish results. Man City lost at home to the likes of Wolves last season, Man U lost 1-6 last week, Arsenal lost 8-2 and Liverpool spent most of last season struggling to beat teams like Blackpool. Terry slipped over today. This sort of thing happens to all players for every club.

No wayYou have to be realForgive me, but I will keep on saying that we can win the tittle as long as it is mathematically possible.Besides the point I was making is that this particular game should not, if kept in proportion, effect the fans beliefs of whether or not we can win the tittle. It is only one game out of 38.
laura90 556
28 or so games until the season ends and some fans are already saying we're not going to win the title. But we will not. I said it before games have started. And it is OK. We don't have the players for title. We didn't have them 10 games before, and we don't have them now. As simple as that. I don't expect title at all. My only concern is top four place, not becouse of me ( I prefer Europa League ), but becouse of money and bad consequences of not playing in the Champions League.I want Chelsea to offload certain players we all know, introduce some youngsters and to buy players on positions needed. To create team for the future without Malouda, Kalou, Bosingwa etc. That would make my season. Not title. I can't expect title in these conditions. And I will not. Hamilton 2,120
I haven't read all comments, and didn't see the game..Edit: Its disappointing to see how Chelsea fans at FB are accusing AVB and want him to leave :-| really pathetic !!!Win or Lose be back the players, back manager, back the club ...I think the Genk fans gave a good example how it should be, singing from first to last second of the game, supporting the team..I'm not to worried but Cfc need to get back in form fast or it will be a season of chasing down every weekend on the top. AVB needs to get some credit, he's still building and creating. But i would like to see some fresh arrivals in january, another creative player (Hazard?) and a defender at most.. Oh i would almost forget, a Winger off course..
Blue Armour 4,497
If you ask me its actually a simple fix for AVB...Why? Because this season creating goal scoring opportunities doesn't seem to be a problem..Its the defense..How else can Chelsea lose at the bridge despite scoring three?.Keeping a clean sheet used to be one of this team's strengths and the personnel are all there to do it, so IMO its just a question of when AVB will sort this out.. Drogba11CFC 108
Playing with a high defensive line is a no-no for me. My centre-backs in FM09 play deep and defensive. I'd have Bosingwa and Ash push forward, but Terry and Alex/Ivan playing defensively. Luiz can be a DM. Or even a striker!Let the smug bastards celebrate with booze and escort girls. We'll bounce back.
termninja 5,290
Just watched the game replay as I wasn't home today when the game was played.I'm very disappointed, but I don't understand why are some people surprised? We had great games this season that made some of you forget our real situation and that situation is:Very young managerSquad with either very young players or players at the end of their careersTransitional periodNew football styleVery young manager.Give AVB a chance to manage Chelsea for 15 years and then look at how will he do. Wenger is the manager who likes and plays the same style of football as AVB does, and he is the person who knows the most about its weaknesses and how to exploit them. Did he do it today? Absolutely.Wenger has been playing this style of football for a while and it's in the blood of his players to play like that, while we suddenly changed our style completely while not having enough pace and energy for it. It will take time. It was never going to be easy and some people should remember that.Squad with either very young players or players at the end of their careers. This is a very tough problem for us at the moment. We either have players like Lampard, Malouda, Anelka, Drogba who are nearing the end of their careers with the addition of Cole and Terry who aren't far from those mentioned before. These players are the players who carried our club in the past couple of years and we still depend and rely on them and we still haven't found the right replacements. The other thing is that we have a large number of highly talented young players like McEachran, Bertrand, Piazon, Lukaku, Kakuta, Romeu on who we still can't rely as they are young and still in development and that gives us problems. They can't step up or the manager won't risk it. That leaves us with players like Malouda, Kalou and similar who can hardly change the flow of the game. Our transitional period came late and it's a very big mistake the club has made, but still, things have changed in the past 2 years and we are thinking about the future a lot more now. It will take some time and bad results to introduce these players into the team and make them a true part of it.Transitional period. We are in the transitional period, and I would like some people need to realize that. There will be bad results, there will be some surprising ones and there will be some good ones, but you need to look at it long-term. Here are the things that are impacting us this season:High defensive lineTorres and Drogba still trying to get back on form. sAdapting to the new style of play under AVBEPL is very competitive and it doesn't help us right nowIncredible motivation every team has when they play usAnd last, but not the last, New football style. This is the key word, new. It is new and the players need the time to adapt to it. AVB needs time to get the hang of teams and to establish himself well. Signs so far are good. We gave some great performances and I really enjoyed watching my favorite team play. Torres has started showing glimpses of a man worth 50m, Mata has been an absolutely amazing addition to our and and the whole team has improved. I notice every little difference in our play because (like most of you) watch every of the matches we play. I really felt the change AVB has brought and I like it! Very quick movement both on and of the ball and wonderful runs from our players. AVB has also improved our counter attacking and generally made the whole team work as a unit.Yes we lost to United, QPR and Arsenal, but have a look at them. Ferguson has been at United for 25 years! Wenger has been at Arsenal for 15 years! QPR had a 12th man working for them and I'm sure our players will kick their arses in august.Don't lose hope and disgrace yourself. It is easiest to support a club that is winning. You need to stick out for your team when they are doing badly and remain positive.Last year we were on the verge of making one of the biggest comebacks in the history PL. Last year Arsenal almost won the title, yet they finished 4th while we were 2nd with all problems we had. This year United has been incredible yet they lost to City 1-6. Football is a strange game and this is one the things that make it so popular and wonderful.Head up and keep the blue flag flying high! :cfc:

It's not good for the players who try and develop their game which resolves around one strategy conducted by the manager. Ferguson and Wenger have drummed their philosophies into their United and Arsenal squads respectively for many years now, so they're used to it. All we seem to do is change manager when the one we have fails to win trophies... then rinse and repeat... it's not good for our players, and, more often than not, it slows down their development. No wonder our youth policy has deteriated over the years!
