Calm down. It's embarrassing.

Playing with a high defensive line is a no-no for me. My centre-backs in FM09 play deep and defensive. I'd have Bosingwa and Ash push forward, but Terry and Alex/Ivan playing defensively. Luiz can be a DM. Or even a striker!

Let the smug bastards celebrate with booze and escort girls. We'll bounce back.

Just watched the game replay as I wasn't home today when the game was played.

I'm very disappointed, but I don't understand why are some people surprised? We had great games this season that made some of you forget our real situation and that situation is:

  • Very young manager
  • Squad with either very young players or players at the end of their careers
  • Transitional period
  • New football style

Very young manager.

Give AVB a chance to manage Chelsea for 15 years and then look at how will he do. Wenger is the manager who likes and plays the same style of football as AVB does, and he is the person who knows the most about its weaknesses and how to exploit them. Did he do it today? Absolutely.

Wenger has been playing this style of football for a while and it's in the blood of his players to play like that, while we suddenly changed our style completely while not having enough pace and energy for it. It will take time. It was never going to be easy and some people should remember that.

Squad with either very young players or players at the end of their careers.

This is a very tough problem for us at the moment. We either have players like Lampard, Malouda, Anelka, Drogba who are nearing the end of their careers with the addition of Cole and Terry who aren't far from those mentioned before. These players are the players who carried our club in the past couple of years and we still depend and rely on them and we still haven't found the right replacements.

The other thing is that we have a large number of highly talented young players like McEachran, Bertrand, Piazon, Lukaku, Kakuta, Romeu on who we still can't rely as they are young and still in development and that gives us problems. They can't step up or the manager won't risk it. That leaves us with players like Malouda, Kalou and similar who can hardly change the flow of the game. Our transitional period came late and it's a very big mistake the club has made, but still, things have changed in the past 2 years and we are thinking about the future a lot more now. It will take some time and bad results to introduce these players into the team and make them a true part of it.

Transitional period.

We are in the transitional period, and I would like some people need to realize that. There will be bad results, there will be some surprising ones and there will be some good ones, but you need to look at it long-term.

Here are the things that are impacting us this season:

  • High defensive line
  • Torres and Drogba still trying to get back on form. s
  • Adapting to the new style of play under AVB
  • EPL is very competitive and it doesn't help us right now
  • Incredible motivation every team has when they play us

And last, but not the last, New football style.

This is the key word, new. It is new and the players need the time to adapt to it. AVB needs time to get the hang of teams and to establish himself well. Signs so far are good. We gave some great performances and I really enjoyed watching my favorite team play. Torres has started showing glimpses of a man worth 50m, Mata has been an absolutely amazing addition to our and and the whole team has improved. I notice every little difference in our play because (like most of you) watch every of the matches we play. I really felt the change AVB has brought and I like it! Very quick movement both on and of the ball and wonderful runs from our players. AVB has also improved our counter attacking and generally made the whole team work as a unit.

Yes we lost to United, QPR and Arsenal, but have a look at them. Ferguson has been at United for 25 years! Wenger has been at Arsenal for 15 years! QPR had a 12th man working for them and I'm sure our players will kick their arses in august.

Don't lose hope and disgrace yourself. It is easiest to support a club that is winning. You need to stick out for your team when they are doing badly and remain positive.

Last year we were on the verge of making one of the biggest comebacks in the history PL. Last year Arsenal almost won the title, yet they finished 4th while we were 2nd with all problems we had. This year United has been incredible yet they lost to City 1-6. Football is a strange game and this is one the things that make it so popular and wonderful.

Head up and keep the blue flag flying high! :cfc:

Great post... and it's just as I was trying to explain earlier about how bad it is for the club trying to chop and change managers, resulting in different philosophies! It's not good for the players who try and develop their game which resolves around one strategy conducted by the manager. Ferguson and Wenger have drummed their philosophies into their United and Arsenal squads respectively for many years now, so they're used to it. All we seem to do is change manager when the one we have fails to win trophies... then rinse and repeat... it's not good for our players, and, more often than not, it slows down their development. No wonder our youth policy has deteriated over the years!

We still need to remember that this is the year of transition from being an old, slow and predictable side to a more youthful , attacking and vibrant style of play. We may lose a couple of games here and there but Chelsea is adapting to AVB's changes.

KTBFFH. CHELSEA TILL I DIE.

Let's just be realistic guys. It's city or utds title. We just needs to hope we get one of the two champions league places left. This season will build for a title challenge next year. If were in the champions league or not.

28 or so games until the season ends and some fans are already saying we're not going to win the title.

& AVB is suddenly a bad manager

Some "fans" are so impatient & spoiled. I would much rather AVB is given a few seasons to develop his own team and we experience 10 years of success than him being given the boot straight away & oh look we're back to square one yet again. Unbelievable.

We need to spend in January, on the likes of De Bruyne and Hazard/Hulk and a playmaker. We must build or this is going to be a wasted season, because next season we will be starting over again... Hopefully.

Exactly, these spoiled fans are only happy when we win 6-0, and/or we buy someone for 100 million.

AVB is not a manager that spends thats what i hate about him.

With Abramovich on your side you can buy any player i dont know why doesnt do that.

Hes slowly becoming Arsene Wenger he only gets players who are very young with no experience

Exactly!!! It was never gana be easy to come in and boom we're running off with the league.I'll be happy with couple of seasons of a top 4 finish, the odd trophy but for him to be given time to develop the team and not get the flick because of daft expectations that cant always be met stright away!

lol he spent 25 odd million on Mata and 13 million on Meireles - hardly Wenger like. He was willing to spend about 20m on Pereira too. And remember he joined us only in late June and wanted time to assess the squad. Why don't you wait and see what he does when Anelka, Drogba, Malouda, Kalou all leave in the next 6-8 months

You seriously think abramovich is gonna be that patient and let him finish a few seasons 4th and 3rd???? I want improvement but I also want us to be a powerhouse in europe and England, we should be title challengers, we have money we should spend it. It's up to Gael Kakuta to prove at Bolton he's good enough for Chelsea before January, Sturridge can be a future striker here the way Torres is playing.

We should but doesnt work like that mean look at City before now, spend loads of money and never got anywhere until last season really so took them a while to gel and all.....

I hope Roman gets patient because it does get boring end of every season wondering 'hmmm who be our Manager'...and its come to a point now soon as we get a bad result 'when will so and so get the sack' yada yada yada its become a joke really the sack merry go round

I'd rather that than us buying a player for 50m every season.

Also, i didn't know Mata and Meireles are players with no experience.

You are just another spoiled fan, who is only happy when we win 6-0 every game, while spending 100m every season.
